Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 as a way to spotlight the cultural importance of independently owned record stores, as well as their staff and customers, to show what kind of role these establishments play within their communities. Linkin Park have participated in Record Store Days of the past, with a red vinyl re-issue of Hybrid Theory, and this year, to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Collision Course, the band has released a special re-issue of their groundbreaking collaboration with Jay-Z. You can pick up your copy of the 12" blue vinyl today at participating record shops within your community. Got mine today! Very lucky in fact. First store I went to only had 2 copies and they were gone by the time I got in there after queuing from 7AM, they opened at 8AM - I didn't get in there until 8:20AM. So I tired another where I had to queue for 2 and a half hours. They had 9 copies and I got the last one. I'd have been totally gutted otherwise.
Oh man, I literally just began a vinyl collection this week. Guess I'll have to swing by my record store after work, but I'm not holding my breath on being able to find one.
Went to multiple stores in the Tampa area. Couldn't get my hands on this or the Paramore release. I did however get the RSD 2014 release from The Civil Wars. So far this RSD was a bust for me compared to last year.
Picked this up in Tampa today after going to one store and realizing they were out of them, and then waiting in line at another for an hour. Haven't spun it yet, but that blue is beautiful.
I might lets this record spin in a local coffee shop while sipping a coffee and making sure my blog about society is updated from my MacBook. In other words, I'm not building a collection so I won't buy it. Cool that they gave it the light of day again though
Is the sound quality better in a vinyl than, say, in a 320kbps mp3 or FLAC audio or is it just a cool collector thing? What's the up side to buying this on vinyl?
Have a look at this: http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/question487.htm As I live in Portugal, I had to buy it from Amazon for ≈$30, fees included. A little too much but now I only need a Meteora and a Reanimation vinyl to complete the collection
Got the vinyl today! I was lucky, it was the last one! The only other vinyl I own from any artist is Reanimation, I picked that one up in NYC in 2004 or 2005, I think. I am mad that I missed last years record store day with Hybrid Theory..
Last year I went to the only record store in my area looking for the Hybrid Theory vinyl. They didn't have have it, the place smelt weird and everybody there was a hipster. I think that I'll just take my chances looking for a copy on amazon.
I didn't see it at either of the two record stores I went to, but personally, it wasn't really anything I needed a whole lot. If I saw it, I'd get it, but I'm not mad that I didn't get it or anything.
Looking back on the EP itself, I find it funny how Izzo/In The End is featured on the sticker when it was cut from MTV's edit of the concert. Might as well said; featuring the hit "Big Pimpin / Papercut". Haha. Anyway, my favorite from this was easily "DOYS/LFY". It sounded like the best blend sonically.
