Check for the cheesy thread title

    So, let's get to it.

As most of you will know, there are a lot of old-LP copycats out there, with their singers trying their hardest to sound like Chester. Most of the time, they pretty much all fall short. No disrespect to those bands, but my point is: Chester voice is quite unique, right? That's what has made some of us fans in the first place. I'm aware there are some good vocalists who have a voice quite similar to him, but even then, you can always tell the differences.

Now, Mike re-tweeted that POA cover some hours ago. Checking it out, I was really really really amazed of how fucking much the singer just sounds like Chester. Seriously, check this out, and you'll see I'm not exaggerating.

So, that made me curious, and I looked for more information about the singer. The guy has a youtube account called "NIMP NEO" with some LP covers. And damnit. DAMNIT. I don't want to sound like a fanboy (altough I'll probably come accross like that ), but it's frightening how similar his timber and voice is similar to Chester's one. If you just listen to the songs without looking to the videos, there's almost no way you can tell it's another singer singing. Of course, it isn't 100% the same. But it's pretty damn close, certainly the closest I've ever heard. I'm seriously impressed. Curious to see what you guys think about it!

Wow that is scarily similar. His accent seems like the only thing holding it back from being an exact copy.

It's even better because you can tell he's a big fan that has spent a lot of time watching/listening to live performances, because he has the exact same vocal inflections Chester has when he performs live.

He sounds great, but I couldn't get past the accent. "The Chateau Of The Day".

    Still pretty admirable.

Granted, I didn't notice the accent. But I'm not a native english speaker, so there's that :sweating:

I think Spencer Sotelo from Periphery sounds a bit like him. But that POA cover... 0_0

lol, I was expecting the full 18 second Given Up scream,
Anywho, I listen to cover artists all the time, including Nimp Neo, so by now I can very much say he sounds almost nothing like Chester to me.

In the past I thought Alex Mcmillan was Chester's copy cat, but again, time wears that out and you start to realize the opposite. Some of his vocal melodies were close to Chester's, but his screaming isn't all too great, and his range prevents him from hitting those higher notes. I will say I was rather impressed with his small cover of LITE (tho, again, his range doesn't help match Chester's screams)

I stumbled onto this cover a while back. Gursimran Reehal is his channel name (I'll assume that's his actual name as well). He has very close vocal melodies to Chester as well, possibly the best (but that's up to personal opinion). The thing that hinders the performance is definitely his accent and his timing when singing the lyrics in the right place, but it isn't enough to say he sucks. He has an exceptional cover of Pushing Me Away (Piano Version) worth checking out.

It really sounds like he's straining the hell out of his voice in the Given Up cover, but not bad.

Alex Mcmillan is quite good, but not on this dude's level IMO. I was in part refering to him when I talked about "good vocalists with similarities".

Then again, I still think that POA cover showcases the best Chester imitation I have ever heard. How close it sounds to the original take is, as I said, almost scary.

I think Alex Mcmillan was more consistent. I''ve heard a few of the other covers this guy has and some of them feel a little off, with the exception of his screaming.

That's remarkably close, and not a bad job on those songs overall, either. Just a peripheral question: on POA, whose rhymes are those? I don't think I've ever heard a demo version or anything with those rapping verses.

I think Richi wrote them, but I'm not 100% sure.

In term of singing technique, Alex is better I guess. I agree with that.

But in term of the timber of the voice itself, this guy almost sounds like he is Chester, if you ask me. The voice, the scream, everything. That's what I think is pretty surprising.

I really don't see it. The obvious accent gives away the differences between Chester's and his voice. I really don't hear much similarities at all. From all the covers that I've listened to (and I've listened to a lot), Alex McMillan has the closest sounded voice, but yet there are still distinct differences.

I think this is a more accurate cover of Linkin Park by Alex.

This singer also has a soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/nimp-neo

That POA cover he did was with a band named Riverline, he did another cover, "Faint" by LP here:

He also screams in an original song made by Riverline:

I think its not difficult to distinguish his voice from Chester's , especially with that accent :D
He still does sound kinda similar though.
