Lol I agree. I was a little disheartened by that pic with him. I hope desperately its Andy Wallace. Cause the Manny mix on LT was bad.
Awesome news! Andy has mixed some of my most favorite records in the past. Would be interesting to see how he mixes the non-nu metal Linkin Park, but this guy has worked with so many different artists that I'm not having any doubts at all. Both HT and M are brilliantly mixed - yeah, Meteora might sound a bit too polished, but it's not like it's Andy's fault. Can't wait!
LP have done "mixer shootouts" before to find the right fit for their albums, so that gives this idea some credence That photo was from before "Recharged" was released and it turns out that he mixed "Recharged". We've therefore safely concluded that that photo was taken during a "Recharged" mix session. Rest easy.
Couldn't have asked for any better news. The last time Andy mixed a Linkin Park record, I began a childhood fascination with audio. Now, as I find myself in the early stages of (what I hope will be) a career as an engineer and mixer, I find he's potentially mixing a new Linkin Park record. Ten years on, I have nothing but continuing respect and admiration for Andy Wallace and Linkin Park. To say I look forward to this would be an understatement. (Brb, going to get totally emotional and then have a big cup of 'man-up')

Living Things' mixing sucks because LP interfered with his process, and Brian Gardner mutilated it's quality in mastering.
How so? I'm curious about this statement. It's a bold one to make. What's bad about Rick Rubin? He delves in a tremendous amount of genres. The man is a genius. Plus it's my firm belief that without Jay Z and Rick Rubin, Linkin Park wouldn't be here. Sure, the change created a chasm in the fan base, but remember how the band acted back then. Do you think the band would've survived beyond Hybrid Theory and Meteora if only Mike and Chester wrote the songs individually instead of the band working and bouncing ideas off each other? They talked about that I believe during ATS cycle how it used to be Mike and Chester writing and essentially the rest of the band sitting around waiting. They're stronger, closer, and more cohesive now than they were a decade or two ago. Plus I'm all for change. I'd rather have something new, original, bold, unexpected, etc. over the same tried and relatively safe sound. It might not appeal to everyone, but that's how I define Linkin Park.
Ive noticed people on here are saying Andy Wallace "made" the Linkin Park sound. With all do respect to Andy Wallace. Should it be Don Gilmore since he was the producer. He had more to do with the "process."
Without Jay Z? I can see without Rubin but Jay Z is such a small blip in their discography. They would be no better or worse without that album.
Yeah I can't really tell if mixing is bad or not. I just listen to the song and bang my head to it... unless it's a soft song, then I just listen and enjoy the music.
I want dark stuff similar to No Roads Left. That's all I want, not some nu-metal crap. Well, maybe it's not crap, but I just don't want it (nor do I seriously think any of us truly want a repeat of Hybrid Theory and Meteora).
