    It's a common misconception.

"Billboard classifies EP as 4 to 6 songs. However, according to Recording Industry Association of America, an EP is defined as 3-5 songs, whereas a single is allowed to contain up to 4 songs."

Usually EPs are 30-something minutes long. Then again, the EP Songs from the Underground had 7 songs and was longer than Meteora (because of "Part of Me").

"In the United Kingdom, the Official Chart Company defines a boundary between EP and album classification at 25 minutes of length or four tracks."

The definition I handle for EP is that the track amount is too much for a single but to short for a full album. Very simplistic approach.

A CD having 8 songs to me it still is an EP, for example.

Thing is, LPU CDs have a lot of tracks and +30mins of play so they could easily be "albums" by that standard, obviously they're not because they are side fanclub exclusive releases, but to my eyes they're still EPs.

Bottom line is, I don't fucking know, let's wait until things clear up.

How about we call them "fan club compilations" and call it a day

This. The CDs are not available anywhere except exclusively to the fanclub. Therefore, calling it an album or an EP is not proper.

If it's not for LPU13, then it would be something like THE CATALYST EP they released via iTunes a while ago.. A remix EP or anything like that.

"Sounds from the underground" was an EP because it was available in stores.

it says we should not use work of others...lets say I have a drum loop in music maker that comes with the program from the very beginning...so it does apply to that yes or no?

Typically yes, sample packs/stock sounds bundled with recording software are royalty-free. It's usually mentioned in the program's user agreement somewhere.

Willing to bet it's an ALTNC remix EP. There's a remix of ALTNC in the newest LPTV episode.

I honestly home it isn't a LPU exclusive thing...I mean...me for example...I wouldn't be able to join LPU (reasons for that are too private to discuss here) so...I would be only able to get my mix of the internet (most probably) but I would enjoy it more if I can say in a store . Okay maybe I put this over the top but I could say like you know "Look! See that CD over there" It has a remix of mine on there

I wouldn't like this. An EP full of just one song is too much.

The rules don't say anything about any restrictions like that
