Nah, son. With Teeth is the best album album to start. It's very accessible with many "catchy" songs (The Hand That Feeds, Only, Sunspots)... Then you get into weirder stuff like Fragile or Spiral.
"With Teeth" never caught my attention oddly enough. It's the one NIN album I still just don't like as much as the others. Maybe it is a good album to start with but I never liked it.
I think The Fragile is incredibly overrated. It's way too long and repetitive. Year Zero was the first NIN album I listened to. It took me a while to get into it, but when I did it was fantastic. Still my favorite NIN album.
Linkin Park - "Minutes to Midnight" Linkin Park - "A Thousand Suns" Linkin Park - "LIVING THINGS" Okay, time to listen to something else...
It seems that the first album you listen to becomes your favorite. I've listened to With Teeth first and it's still my favorite by them. Anyway, the last album I've listened to in it's entirety was Living Things.
We're clearly all divided on this. The fragile is my favorite and year zero is the only one I don't like. With Teeth would also be a good starting point IMO. What;s funny is my first NIN album was actually The Slip. Great album, don't start there
If you're into poetic lyrics or those songs that makes you think,"WTF that means?" or just plainly an emo like me ( ), I would really suggest LA DISPUTE. La Dispute is one of those few bands that put substance in their work and creates music that reflects life's joys and miseries. It's a 10/10 nonetheless. It's really a shame that I got to know them just recently. Somewhere at the bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair Wildlife This guy sums up everything about this band. Pretty good review. Yes, I'm promoting La Dispute. lol. ___________________ Ah! The wonders of YouTube. Sometimes, YouTube could take you to some pretty and worst s**t music and sometimes, amazingly it could take you to wonderland. If you feel like just chilling on a lazy afternoon, I would suggest this man, Colin Macleod.
Stone Temple Pilots: "Core" - solid album. 8/10 Edit: Nine Inch Nails: "The Fragile" - a lot of raw energy and good songs, but as an album from start to finish it is pretty weak. It does show off a different and unique side to Trent, which is why I'd give the album a 7/10 Nine Inch Nails: "With Teeth": - by far my least favorite NIN album. It has some pretty good songs but not enough to make me like the album. "Right Where It Belongs" is a killer track, though. 6/10
Dethklok- Dethalbum III 9/10 So good, for being imaginary these guys sure know what they're doing. Cannibal Corpse- The Wretched Spawn 8/10 All the brutality with a lot more technicality. Sleep- Dopesmoker 9/10 Only these guys could pull off making an hour long track and making it an album.
Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing (1998) - A perfect blend of progressive, alternative songs, quirky punk rock ones, and slow, emotive ballads, the second album by Placebo brings a departure from the sound of the first record - the departure that remained the signature sound of this band for so many years, and is still adored by so many fans. 8.5/10
Twelve Foot Ninja's Silent Machine - This album would have definitely made my top ten list of last year when I made it, had I heard it before the end of the year. The album is extremely progressive, which is mostly present in its first track "Coming For You", which includes elements of metal, salsa, and 70's funk, and I absolutely love it. 8.5/10
Nine Inch Nails // Year Zero - Great album. Definitely a good one to start with, at least for me. Seems very continuous and I absolutely love how the tracks go straight from one to another. Done perfectly. The bass is really strong, guitar is nice, the sampled drums get a bit boring after a while though. Not a major problem, though. Incredible electronics incorporated and all in all the album just sounds massive. It's a great album and I feel like it's just gonna get better after a few listens. Definitely gonna check out some more NIN too. 8.5/10
