Yesterday Chester Bennington and Dave "Phoenix" Farrell of Linkin Park took the time to perform at the opening of "Sophie's Place", the new music therapy room at the Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Stone Temple Pilots were also on hand for a brief jam session. You can watch the acoustic performance video of The Messenger below courtesy of Rick Egan. You can also watch an alternate video on Fox Thirteen along with a news story and footage from the rest of the day. This song is extra special in these situations. Since Chester wrote it for his kids, singing it in front of the children at the hospital must've felt like they're your own. And of course, the message of hope is really obvious. Always massive respect for the charitable gestures that the guys make.
Fake. Phoenix plays bass, n00bz. In all seriousness, stuff like this is what reminds you these guys don't just make killer music for the cash - they're good people.
Wow, very meaningful and an awesome performance! The STP jam was cool, too. Wish we had some full videos of it.
I really like this new subdued version they've been performing lately. The studio version with the practically shouted lyrics always felt a little "harsh" when done live. This version is way better.
