Before the newly-reformed Stone Temple Pilots' set at last night's MusiCares benefit concert, Chester took the time to talk with Rolling Stone Magazine about what this new adventure entails for him and the band in the future. On how things have been working out with his new bandmates: On how this new music could be released: So there you have it: Stone Temple Pilots (with Chester) are in the process of writing and recording new music, and will likely be releasing this music on a single-by-single basis rather than the traditional album route. Thank you, Mark for posting this. This version was better than the crash-course version I had quickly typed up. I'm glad I checked the news section before I hit submit! To go along with this story, I am excited for what Chester is doing with STP. I believe it will help the songwriting within LP as well. The future of both bands is bright, my friends.
Since that article talked about MusiCares at Club Nokia, here his his acceptance speech for the Stevie Ray Vaughn Award: Also, Chester played a set with STP at MusiCares with STP. That setlist was the following: Wicked Garden Big Bang Baby Vasoline Out of time Trippin' All The Young Dudes (with Slash and Duff) Mott the Hoople/David Bowie Cover I found that on this thread from Stpiolots98 who also posted a link to Chesterbnetwork that of which included photos of the night at MusiCares. Here is the performance of "All The Young Dudes" via Youtube user HybridIllusion: The same user also posted this live video for "Out Of Time": Special thanks also goes out to Jesse who posted the acceptance speech as well in the Got News thread and the Shoutbox.
This sounds cool, one track at a time.. Sounds weird but some artists do it that way. Some european artists release about 4 or 5 singles before the actual album so, I'm kinda used to it, really xD
Chester sounded AMAZING last night. Here are some more videos I found:
I feel like we will get new STP music with Chester sooner than we think. I'm pretty pumped about this!
So, if STP doesn't have a label, doesn't that mean they're pretty much indie for right now? That would give Chester more experience in working as an indie band which might be good for/if Linkin Park ever decide to go that route.
I feel like releasing music on a track-by-track basis would be a neat way to do it. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.
I'm excited! Can't wait to add more STP songs to my catalog. You do your thing, guys; I'm supporting and waiting patiently!
2013 is really becoming better each day... - New LP album announced (including Transformers 4 single?) - The Mall soundtrack: I'm expecting a lot (read: maybe too much) from that soundtrack. Just hoping for some great song(s) like Mike managed to do with The Raid: Redemption. "Razors Out" is just great. - STP singles released from time to time The only thing left is the announcement of a European tour in 2014.
Haha, like 4 months ago it looked like 2013 was a year without Linkin Park. I love how this has changed that radical. That's actually a nice opportunity. Their Warner contract might end soon. I really hope LP goes indie.
Chester is such a great vocalist. Hope they use his talents better in LP and not just limit him to scream and pop vocals.
