Here is a transcript from the LP Underground Chat with Phoenix! If we have missed anything or if there's something you'd like to add, please let us know in the LPA Forums! - Gave a tour of his home office or home studio - Started playing music because of his brother who was a cellist - He is a big Anderson Silva fan - He has been reading Game of Thrones by George Martin - Is looking forward to the Australia/New Zealand Tour. It is one of his favorite places to be. - Currently working on the Mall Soundtrack with the band. Says the movie is good. - He would love to go to Space - He can play the violin - Thinks it is weird that people use the band members' names in their usernames - He does really enjoys surfing even though he's not particularly good at it - Gets lots of comparisons to Brad Pitt. Says it is not a bad thing! - Spoke of the differences with playing bass guitars with a pick and without. - He is used to people calling him Dave, Phoenix, or just Farrell [jump][/jump] - Writing style is different now in comparison to 2000s. There was less exploration for writing styles and less people to listen to it. He feel less pressure and more free now. The band can do whatever they want now because there is not a fear of losing a label. - Loves Italy, its great food, and its great soccer team - He enjoys answering questions that are unrelated to Linkin Park, something that can't be google searched. - Crazy things seen during shows: Chester breaking his wrist and continuing to perform - Will probably never do a solo project. Not really his thing - He personally, along with the rest of the band, really enjoys the LPU and the M&Gs. It's a special way for the band to get a chance to connect with fans. He knows that members may appear tired at times, but he wants you to know that they each still take the experience very seriously. Phoenix really wants to thank everyone for their support. - Likes Les Miserables - He does have pets - He doesn't know where the band will be in twenty years. Hopefully still playing music - Would like to build a bass himself someday - Favorite Bassist is Paul McCartney - Loved South Africa. Very impressed. He had always wanted to go there! - The band does not use the old artwork style because it feels old - The reason why the band doesn't want to repeat older sounds or styles is because they want to "create" or make something new or undone - He does not like Gangnam Style. Thinks it is awesome, however, for Psy to make it to the US charts - He enjoys dancing - He has not read 50 Shades of Grey - Does not think he sings very well but will continue to do back up vocals - As a bass player, he doesn't like listening to bass solos so he doesn't write bass solos
Awaiting LP soundtrack for new Gundam/Transformers crossover But seriously, when they're here in my city, I'm going to try so hard to find where they're staying, I might just end up with a felony charge or two. Fair warning, guys.
Good work, Zane. I'm gonna go to the name change request thread and ask to be changed to "Ree Hahn" now.
still cant believe I got 2 rply from phoenix..* old artwork style *bass solo .....man it was just awesome...
Thought I'd get onto the chat 5 minutes early, turns out that's all the time left. Damn you, timezone converter! But still, I was satisfied with the short time I got to finally watch one of these chats. I was pretty much too frozen to type anything.
I wonder if by "old artwork" he means Shinoda painted pictures as album art. If he does, fucking lame.
They're making the entire soundtrack for the film and according to a French article it'll count as an album with Warner thus being the likely end of their contract.
I like his backup vocals, especially live. He has a decent voice, but Chester and Mike clearly are better.
If that ends up being true, then that's some amazing news. I may be more excited for their contract to end than for new music.
