You know, even if what Rocky said was ridiculously inappropriate... in hindsight it is pretty funny, with this new report.
How exactly was that insensitive? My comment was about exacting vengeance on the hateful, violent scumbags who were purported to have committed this atrocious act at the time. While wishing death upon them is extreme, I'm of the belief that anyone who breaks into a house and tortures and mutilates someone based on their sexual orientation should be dealt swift painful justice. I'm sure there's many people out there who will agree with me instead of trying to protect them from insensitive comments. Your comment was in line with the same sort of people who claim women who get raped had it coming because they were dressed a certain way. Not only to mention that you used the word "cunt" to debase her. It's pure blaming the victim. Don't act like you made this comment on the hunch that she was fabricating the story. What you said was ridiculously inappropriate, misogynistic and utterly senseless and I'm surprised you had the audacity to express it in public.
It's also insensitive. What if Ms. Rogers is a hateful, violent scumbag and was the initial perpetrator? What if the 3 perpetrators were exacting vengeance on her? What if they were her victims? How can you be so insensitive towards them? All lulz aside, why are we arguing Rocky's comment after we found out that she's suspected of lying about everything? Nobody made a fuss about it when we all thought she was the victim.
From a certain point of view, I suppose so, but, yeah, that wasn't my point in quoting Mark's words nor was it Rocky's doing the same.
Wow.... Just wow... Disgusting.... Why can't people just let other people live their lives the way they want to?!!!
I missed it until I came back in the thread to give an update. Other people had issue with it originally. Clearly. But considering the information at hand, how couldn't it be reactionary. A lot of people reacted with horror at the original story. I don't feel it would have been realistic to say, "Whoa, hold on a minute. She might have done it to herself, so I'm reserving comment."
Well, I don't have a full opinion on that. All I was saying was that no-one used "insensitive" in relation to your post.
Rocky said: "That was insensitive and reactionary, which doesn't take much use of the brain to do." Can we move this along, then?
Living in Omaha, Nebraska, we're all pretty pissed. We take stuff like this pretty seriously around here and a lot of people feel cheated after this has all come out. A lot of actual incidents may not be taken seriously now. I was even pissed when the local paper was investigating it as a hoax. But now we know the truth. It's pretty sad. A lot of news that comes out of Nebraska is bad news, besides the CWS and Olympic Trials. Von Maur shooting, Brad Fuglei, this. Just. Ugh.
It's horrible to think about, how there are now more consequences than just getting angry at one person
What I think is stupid, is that she gets accused and taking in for apparently lying to the police? They shouldn't be trying to convict her, they should be after other people, not her. This happens a lot and I just don't understand it, it does nothing at all. And if she did make this up, does it really matter? they should be trying to solve if it was a hoax or not first, make sure punishment is served to anyone who did do it, if it did happen
False accusations are a big deal - and especially in this case, given the reaction all of this received.
Every minute the police spend trying to find her non-existent attacker is a minute they don't have to spend on finding real criminals.
