I don't think he really struggled. I think he was instantly favored and it seems they thought it was a little too good to be true or something and didn't want to make quick rash decisions, so they auditioned a couple others and were like, "What are we doing?"
I think I heard that when Chester auditioned some other vocalist basically walked out saying, "You guys are crazy if you don't pick him."
