Can't copy Living Things to any devices

Hey guys I have been trying to copy the files that I ripped fromt he CD onto my phone and PSVita, but both devices say the files are corrupted.

I first tried copying the wma files to my phone, and the phone didn't even recognize them with the music app, so I changed all of the extensions to .mp3, so now at least the devices are recognizing them in app, but when i go to play, says it can't. Do the files have some sort of ridiculous copy protection? Was the manual file extension what caused the corruption?

Changing the wma extension to mp3 doesn't make them MP3 files. They're still WMA files, now incorrectly named. Your phone and PSVita (which I presume don't play WMAs) still won't be able to play them.

Re-rip the files from your CD as MP3. You'll thank yourself later. I can't think of a good reason to ever use WMA for anything.

WMA isn't compatible with anything though. I'll sacrifice a tiny bit of sound quality (that I probably won't notice anyways since I don't have a super duper sound system) to be able to listen to my music on my phone, my car and basically anything else I have.

Besides, while it's possible that a WMA and MP3 at the same bitrate, the WMA might sound better, you can increase the MP3 bitrate and they'll sound the same. Yes, the file size is bigger, but storage is so cheap nowadays.

If you're really concerned about sound quality while saving space, use AAC. It also sounds better than MP3 at the same bitrate, but at least it's an open standard and slightly more compatible with other devices. WMA is just proprietary garbage.

FLAC is the best from every aspect.

In terms of compatibility versus quality, the mp3 format is the best format.

It may not be the absolute best in terms of quality but it didn't become a de facto standard for no reason.

That's what happened. I ripped using windows media player do it default ripped to wma. Gonna redo it now and hope for better results, thanks!

That's what I have, but the Xperia Play's music player doesn't support FLAC.

If VLC is available for it I'll have to give it a download then.

In the Windows Media player library, you should be able to change the tags.

This has to be done manually. A first world problem.
