I can't believe I'm reading this bashing of Slipknot in a Linkin Park fansite of all places. We as a fanbase know what it is to listen to a band which was criticized for not being metal enough, having corny lyrics and useless screaming, yet some of you talk shit about Slipknot using the same arguments? Wow. I like Slipknot, they're not the BEST BAND EVUR, but they're fairly good, specially their last two records.
They won't disappoint. If anything they're even more fuelled than ever as a result of the death of Paul Gray... RIP
I've got to disagree with this statement because it's a matter of opinion. To use the "you don't understand music" argument is a cop-out, if you ask me. Going back to what I said, I said he can sing; I strongly dislike his scream. I think it's very weak. When you're in the genre they're in (which, loosely, is metalcore/alternative metal), you've got to be able to go from singing to screaming and back again like it's nothing, and I don't think his scream is up to par with his singing. But, again, that's just me – and it's a matter of opinion, anyway. For what it's worth, I'm not a fan of Linkin Park. I haven't liked them since... oh, mid-2005, maybe. Go figure, right?
I know. I was simply putting in my two-cents. Also, I've listened to all their albums; they just don't do it for me anymore. Even Hybrid Theory barely gets me pumped up anymore.
Each band member in Slipknot is great (if not amazing) at what they do. Corey Taylor for example, is an amazing singer and his screams are brutally dark. The instrumentalists all know what they're doing. Who's the turntablist? Sid or something? He's just as good as Mr. Hahn. that being said however, their last two albums are brutal...
I wish I didn't miss the "pile on this dude's musical taste" train. About that... I'll agree to disagree. Self-titled is debatable. Everything else from Stone Sour isn't even close. ==== I've been listening to Slipknot for 10 years and I just keep finding new and interesting ways of getting into their art, for better or worse. And, yes, they are easily the best live band I have ever have had the privilege of seeing on stage. It really is quite the experience. Hell, I set up a temporary XBL account to hold me over until payday as SkinTicket
Only one part of his post was directed towards you. Also, if you have nothing to contribute and you really do hate this band, why do you insist on posting insults about the band here?
This was my post in the BMTH thread. Worst thing I said was that they were bad. Notice that I added "to me" in there, since I'm well aware that a lot of people find them good. I stated my thoughts and opinion on them, without dissing anyone's musical taste (since I DO thoroughly enjoy metalcore / hardcore music or whatever you wanna classify them as), and left. I have nothing left to say in that thread. I don't consider my post there to be an insult. Here are a couple of your posts in my thread. Instead of anything with real substance, you just trashed the band and continued to do so for no apparent reason. At one point, you dissed one of the other members in this thread for defending a band he likes. You also stated that you respect Slipknot, but then continued with statements that they're a stupid and awful band. If you absolutely hate the band, that's totally fine. Post about that. But bring a valid argument instead of unnecessary insults and trash talk. I'm done arguing this. It's pointless.
No, because you vehemently bash this band while praising and starting threads of other... lesser bands.
What Cookie Monster said. If you have nothing to contribute to this thread other than insults, please stay out of it. Let's get back on topic.
I'm seeing them this Saturday at Mayhem Festival. This will be my second time seeing them, and I'm pretty fucking psyched. Iowa Danger - Keep Away 742617000027 (sic) Eyeless Sulfur Wait and Bleed Before I Forget Disasterpiece Gently Vermilion The Heretic Anthem Psychosocial Duality Spit It Out Encore: (515) People = Shit Surfacing 'Til We Die Their set is basically the same one they've been doing since 2009, but I can't really complain, it's a sweet set. Plus it's got Gently in there, which I don't think has been played since the Iowa days. My only suggestion would be Pulse of the Maggots in there (which they have played a couple times on this tour so I'm hoping on getting it), since it was pretty much made for the fans live.
