It's literally been years since I last posted anything in this forum. I feel like my attentions and inspirations when it comes to writing lyrics for music or general poems and writing has shifted in such a dramatic evolution that any of my past postings within this forum are pretty much a different writer. Some of my older stuff, to be frank, is embarrassingly bad but I'm quite proud of this most recent work. It's call 'Sunlight' and it's basically about trying to find hope in dark places and attempting to move on from the past that's been keeping one from reaching their potential and outside interferences playing their role in hindering one's progress in life. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy.
Sunlight
A rose will always grow
From the earth black and cold
Reaching for a taste of sunlight
Because the light will give it life
Omnipresent phantoms
Will have no qualms to suffer
debatable lie, give it a try
'Cause in the end only the obedient die
Open up the curtains

Darkness exists only in shadows
Cast by the glow of hope
A future cannot last
When caged within the past
Grasping concepts now long dead
Playing tricks within your head
