Have tissues on hand.
Civil Twilight does a pretty sick cover of Massive Attack's Teardrop.
What in the hell is the point of a cover if it's going to sound exactly like the original song? Why would anyone bother listening to a cover of a song if it sounds exactly like the original song? There'd be no point. Therefore, your statement about them "tarnishing" the song it's "meaning and tone" are so far off-base that I'm not even sure you're in the stadium anymore.
Also, for the record, Mr. Makes-Ignorant-Statements-Linking-Metal-and-Satanic-Cult-Worship-as-a-Blanket-Statement, August Burns Red are a deeply devout Christian band. The fuck would make you think it's Satanic? Because it's fucking metal? Ignorant.
So... I'll keep searching for a place called home:
I'll rip my roots from this earth into the unknown.
Is it for the dreams I chased or the ones I caught?
This mystery, this misery is killing me.
So, now, I'll leave behind a murder scene.
My life isn't real; it's just a silhouette—
and, when the sun goes down, I won't exist.
This guy is very creative!

Saw this in related videos. It's a half-cover due to Jerry Cantrell's presence in it, but Corey Taylor nails Layne's parts.

And who are you, the proud lord said, that I must bow so low?
Only a cat of a different coat, that's all the truth I know
In a coat of gold or a coat of red, a lion still has claws
And mine are long and sharp, my lord, as long and sharp as yours
And so he spoke, and so he spoke, that Lord of Castamere
But now the rains weep o'er his hall, with no one there to hear
Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall, and not a soul to hear
