LPA Monthly-Mix Up April: The Raid Remixes/Mashups

Get ready to boot up your music production software of choice, and put your skills on the line because it's once again time for...

    APRIL (THE REAL ONE)

But first, for those who don't know...

What Is the LPA Monthly Mix-Up?

LPA Monthly Mix-Up is a new and ambitious concept intended to showcase the massive amount of musical talent currently unheard among the Linkin Park fan community. Every month, we here at the LPA will be challenging fans to compete and show off their musical skills, using any and all tools available to them to create their entry. At the conclusion of each competition period, our staff will then go through each entry submitted, and pick our absolute favorite to be featured on the site as the "Winner Of The Month" with the next round of competition starting the moment the winner from the previous month is chosen. To promote fairness, runner ups will also be shown, but only one Linkin Park fan will walk away with the honor of being featured as the "Monthly Winner"

So, How Does It Work? (Official Rules)
In order to make the contest more interesting and more challenging for those who enter, every month we will be posting a theme that all entrants are required to abide by to be considered for feature on the site. There will be no limitations on key, BPM or length (so go ahead and make a 10 minute entry!), but each submission MUST adhere to the genre (or genres) provided by us to be eligible for the competition.

Users must submit their entry as a reply to the this thread, and may use SoundCloud or YouTube to host their works. All SoundCloud submissions must feature THIS GRAPHIC as the album art, and likewise all YouTube videos must contain the aforementioned graphic in some format with the words "LPASSOCIATION.COM Monthly Mix-Up Entry:" appearing somewhere within the video/soundcloud upload title. This is done to help spread word about the monthly competitions so that more submissions can be made possible.

[Note: Including the above graphic in your submission (as either soundcloud album art, or somewhere in your youtube video) is a requirement. Failure to do so will make your entry unable to be considered in the competition. ALSO IF YOU USE SOUNDCLOUD, PLEASE ENABLE DOWNLOADS OF YOUR TRACK AS WELL AS EMBEDDING.]

ALSO ALL ENTRIES MUST BE COMPLETELY ORIGINAL, AND MAY NOT CONTAIN BACKGROUND MUSIC FROM ANOTHER ARTIST UNLESS STATED DIFFERENTLY IN THE THEME (READ BELOW IN THEME DESCRIPTION). THIS IS YOUR OWN WORK, APART FROM THE LINKIN PARK VOCALS.

The Linkin Park Association will NOT be providing links to legit instrumentals/multitracks at this time (due to licensing/copyright restrictions), so it is the sole responsibility of the entrants to obtain the files needed to create their entries. It is possible (and very easy) to find these tracks via a search in Google, however; to protect ourselves we will not be hosting these files until we one day hopefully receive permission from Warner Brothers to do so.

    How Can I Enter?
Easy! Just upload your submission to Soundcloud/YouTube following the rules above, and submit it via a reply to this thread. One month from today's date (April 1st, 2012) we will go through every submission and pick our favorite(s) for feature on the front page of the LPA. We encourage everyone to submit their entries (regardless of technical/musical/vocal proficiency) as we really would like this project to become something that every fan feels welcome to become involved in. The staff here all agree that the music community for Linkin Park has for the most part (apart from official competitions) gone completely unnoticed, and this is our way of giving attention to fans out there looking to get their talents heard!

Now That We Have That Out Of The Way...

Our (REAL) official theme for the month of APRIL is:

    THE RAID REMIXES/MASHUPS

In recognition of Mike's recent scoring work on the Indonesian martial-arts film "The Raid", we are paying tribute by challenging fans to re-interpret tracks from "The Raid" by sampling pieces of the score to create their own instrumentals, and submissions influenced by "THE RAID".

Here's where it gets fun: The newly created instrumental can either just be an instrumental, or it may contain vocals by Linkin Park only, or be a mashup of Linkin Park and another artist.

For the remainder of the month of April and until April 30th, we are challenging YOU the fans to create your own reinterpretation of a track from "The Raid". You may mash up ANY artist you prefer with with the instrumental, and are not limited to just one artist. Feel free to mash up several if you like. Or you may go full instrumental. All we ask is that you bring your creativity, as due to the larger amount of entries we will be carefully listening to each remix to find the BEST of the best. Kudos will be given to anyone who breaks the mold and creates a completely unexpected submission, or who does more than expected.

Extra kudos will be given to contest entrants who are very unconventional. The more creative and unconventional the entries are, the better!

Disclaimer: Since this is a remix contest,
it is important to state that this contest is not intended to actively support the violation of copyrights, held by Linkin Park, their label, or other artists. This competition is intended for entertainment purposes only, to be fun for the fans, and is not intended to show support for illegal filesharing. We strongly suggest that fans support the record labels and artists by buying their records, and do not pirate their music. If at any time shall we be asked by LP management or another artist to not use their tracks for remixing, we will comply accordingly and pass this information onto you. Till then, have fun!

    Good luck.
The LPA is self funded. We support our hosting costs out of pocket and through ads, and although we do not expect our users to donate...any monetary contribution helps.

Somebody please see this! I checked Linkin Park's page on wikipedia, and somebody has put MISTAKES BEST LEFT UNDONE as they fifth album title!!!! Here's a new rumour...
I promise to let the sun in
    Pride and my promise
    You promise me the sky
In these promises broken, deep below
In my remains, are promises that never came
Let tomorrow have it's way with the promises betrayed
Ten thousand promises, ten thousand ways to lose

Wikipedia is the least credible source you could possibly find. Don't be so gullible.

Also, this isn't the right thread for that subject, so please stay on topic. Thank you.

Mmm, this sounds like my very kind of challenge as people tells me constantly my music is very soundtrack-like sounding. And my partner's voice could certainly add something to it, but I doubt I will be able to do something... since 3 months my inspiration has gone lost and didn't find it again. I hoped the BITS remix would revive my inspiration but it didn't. I'm currently stucked since 30 days on re-doing a song dedicated to my partner and yet I fail to continue it.

    Yeah go ahead.

@ThePrototype, you must create a track sampling bits and pieces of Mike's score. It must be mostly original and CANNOT just be a blatant case of "vocals layered over Mike's original instrumental and calling it a day" .

The shatner contest is legitimate. It's running simultaneously with this one but going until April 8th. So please submit entries to that as well.
