"about finding a positive twist in the darkest moments" reminds me of Breaking The Habit, NOT Iridescent. And it's not even close. Breaking The Habit is like, ok I know this is wrong and im in such a bad place right now, so fuck it. Im going to stop this. It's in first person and far more powerful and emotional than Iridescent.

We normally wouldn't ask this, but just incase we can't get scans in the morning...would any of our resident UKers on this board be willing to run out and grab it in the morning for scans? You'd receive full credit of course.

If the album is filled with Iridescent like songs I would be supremely disappointed. Iridescent was a new kind of song for Linkin Park, but it wasn't a new idea. Many bands and artists have written similar songs. Not saying it was a bad song, but definitely not an original idea. I won't speculate as to what the album will sound like because it will sound differently to different people. I'm just going to sit back and let the process take me where it may. Personally, I would love to hear more unique songs like The Catalyst or When They Come From Me.

Nobody's saying the songs will sound *like* Iridescent. People are just using the lyrics in that song as an example of "positivity in darkness".

Agreed, BTH sounded like something new (even if it wasen't) and Iridescent sounded like something I've already heard before, it was good but it didn't sound new or fresh while BTH did. And BTH had a real personal feeling while iridescent just felt made.
So I am gonna say it: BTH>Iridescent :awesome:

To be fair, you could probably find "positivity in darkness" in any Linkin Park song, purely depending on how you interpret the lyrics. Associating particular songs to Chester's words is fine, but also redundant in the sense that these songs will be individual like the rest of their catalogue. Unless the band start gang vocaling the fuck out of the phrase "let it go", I doubt I'll be making those connections.

I don't know if it's really finding positives in darkness. I think it's more about acceptance and making peace with whatever the situation is. I thought that was one of the main themes in ATS. Not necessarily about being positive, but more about reconciliation and realization. I loved ATS because there is a kind of desperation about the whole thing but it was portrayed in a very subtle and calm manner. If that's what Chester means when he says finding the positives in dark moments then that excites me. But if it's just vapid songs about "fight through the dark times" or "I'm going to kick darkness in the ass" then that would sound like everything else on modern rock radio and that does not excite me. I want them to continue to explore the themes from ATS and perhaps they're doing them in this new album in a different manner.

Plus, Iridescent wasn't much of a firecracker

To each his own, but really? The music to Iridescent has way more emotion than a group of chicks covering BTH while on their period.

im talking about the lyrics. Iridescent is more sad and emotional music wise, but the lyrics were a little weak, especially the chorus.

I'm saying that even the music to Iridescent is more powerful than BTH as a whole. I just think it's a horribly written song and prefer "Drawing". It's all good. I really don't like Meteora.

Amazing! positive lyrics and firecracker sound!
Hybrid Theory with diferent lyrics ! :headbang:
Instead of "you try to take the best of me go away!"(Chester's screaming) maybe we will be able to hear something like "Love keeps us kind! come with me!"(Chester's screaming) :nyan:
