Like the LPA Awards, except only for active members who have been registered for 5+ years.
Because LPA Awards are fun, but us old geezers seem to get overlooked for a lot of these young whipper snappers these days.
    Think about it. ;]

I agree with this, but why don't you just make the awards yourself?

Fake awards have to be authorized? :p

I think we should do this, though. How many members are still active that have been around for that length of time, though?

What about a "Best Oldshooler" category in the regular LPA awards? It's not much, but, like Casey said, there aren't a lot of vets who still post.

If the regular awards are full of newbies winning, then I think we should go through with this idea. No offense meant to anyone, but people that joined in the last year or two having around the same post count as me, or Minus, or even Amanda is pretty ridiculous and that's why they'll win: over-saturation.

I'm down, especially since I'm the longest-tenured member who's not on the staff.

August 2002 (technically it was April or May, I think, but I made a new account for some reason). It's absurd to think it'll be ten years.

Why don't we just hold one large LPA Awards every year, open to everyone...and therefore give everyone (old and new) an equal chance of being voted as a winner?

I've previously abstained from replying to this thread because I know how important this idea is to some of you, but unfortunately there's just no way we can really throw our official support behind an idea like this. The way we look at it is, if you guys are being active enough on the forums, and posting as often as you can (ex: Minus registered in 2003, and still posts regularly) you still have every bit as great of a chance as a newbie who registered last year, to be considered by your peers for selection in the LPA Awards. In fact, I have it on good authority that the members our users have been voting for are not just newbies, but a good mix of old and new users making the idea of two separate awards sort of redundant. In addition, although this is a good idea on paper, it could essentially give these forums the appearance of elitism and give newbies the feeling that unless they've been here a few years they really aren't viewed as great as other people. That's not fair and it's not the impression we'd like to give off to our members.

Don't get us wrong though, with this being our tenth year of existence, and with many of you awesome people in here being with us for close to 7-8 years, we definitely want to give our thanks to those who have stuck with us from the beginning in one way or another...it's just this is not the right answer.
