MTV VMA Nomination: Best Special Effects

The 2011 MTV Video Music Award nominations have been announced and Linkin Park is nominated for one category this year: Best Special Effects for "Waiting For The End". The special effects were done by Ghost Town Media.

Best "Special Effects" ?!?

 

First of all, I would like to say congrats to LP for being nominated and thank you to Ghost Town Media for the special effects.

I have just viewed all the nominated videos on YouTube so I can compare the special effects of each of them to those of Waiting for the End.

Having done so, I feel confident that WFTE can be the winner of this category with the strongest competition coming from Katy Perry's "E.T." and debatable competition coming from Kanye West's "Power". Both of the videos have pretty cool effects (more so in E.T.).

For Chromeo's "Don't Turn the Lights On", the effects are pretty cool but, I could only see effects on the characters eyes and mouth. Didn't really stand out for me.

Now I want to talk about the Manchester Orchestra's video for "Simple Math" separately. Despite the fact that I don't feel the special effects are good enough to win the award, I still think they are effective for the song and video and fit very well. I enjoyed watching and listening to this song and do think it's worth a watch and listen. **

So with that in mind I keep my fingers crossed that Linkin Park win the award. I think it's good that it's a non-voting category as I feel that Katy P would steal the award. The video for "E.T." has been viewed a whopping 107 million times (WFTE has been viewed 23 million times) and we all know that popularity steals awards in the majority of cases!

It's a shame that Iridescent wasn't nominated!

 

LP has a good chance to win with all the super special effects from WFTE

 

Yo Kayne, I'm really happy for you(r nomination). I'mma let you finish, but WFTE has the best special effects of all time. OF ALL TIME.
