Last week Linkin Park released a live iTunes single from their July 4th show at the Roundhouse in London, England where they played the iTunes Festival 2011 and performed a special rendition of the Adele track, Rolling In The Deep.

The Official UK Singles Chart which is determined every Sunday saw the track debut at #42, just out of range of the UK Top 40. Although this may not seem high on the board, it's by no means disappointing. The track had little to no promotion outside of the internet and was also released mid-week on Wednesday July 7th, as opposed to the normal Monday release. The iTunes single also saw no physical CD release and was often linked by media articles via a YouTube video both LPAssociation and Mike Shinoda featured on the front page.

The track coincidentally charted one place above Adele's own version of Rolling In The Deep which has been in the chart for 25 consecutive weeks. This is the third version of the single to chart this year, following a rendition by the Glee cast, which entered at #49 in June. You can check out the full Official UK Singles Chart - HERE.

Adele's original version has been on the charts for 25 straight weeks.

I think that's explanation enough as to why it's not charting amazingly at the moment, not irony.

Awesome. Maybe they should release more covers as they seem to chart higher than their original songs, haha. :awesome:

It is a fantastic cover and I think the fact that it was advertised on the iTunes homepage probably helped a lot too.

How did I know someone (you) would call me out on my use of the word "ironically"?

You can replace the word if you like, I'll even let you choose it. I was going to go with "funnily enough", but maybe you have something better?

It's only cause Adele is flavor of the month they've decided to release it as a single aswell. Yet alot of people (like me) are probably already sick of Rolling in the Deep - as to why it hasn't really charted any higher than it has.

    Congrats to LP regardless.

Adele isn't a flavor of the month. Half a year on the charts with one song, rocking the charts for 4 years is flavor of the month now?

Linkin Parks version is boring as hell. I liked the LP Summit thing version, but the radio version is lame.

Adele has been kicking ass for so long, it's because of her success that the song charted so well right off the bat. I mean, "Rolling in the Deep" was released in November of last year. Count that. Over 7 months on the charts.

Anyway, I think the guys deserve the attention. So yeah, they're famous already, but this isn't really a sound that has been heard from them before, and maybe the success of this single will help encourage them to take risks on big, soulful vocals in the future.

Rolling In The Deep by Linkin Park went to #55 this week.

It's amazing how random the chart is, I mean who the hell is still buying Bring Me To Life by Evanescence? It's at #51.

Evanescence just came back into the public eye because they're releasing a new album in October, which might explain the surge in sales of their older catalog.
