I am pleading Joe not to ruin one of my favourite songs ever, When They Come For Me, with another boring video, please get somebody else to film it, anyone but Joe!
I am sick of extreme slow motion close ups, I am sick of Joe's fetish with Chester's face, Phoenix plucking his bass guitar in slow motion and the rotary shots of Rob hitting the drums.. stop it!
Go to film school for 5 years before you make the next music video, everyone knows that you had no hand in directing your best videos, you just stand there and let the producer boss everyone around as you prepare the slow motion function on the camera, and Breaking The Habit, I don't understand what you did on that, you got one of the best animation studios in the world to do everything and then claimed you directed it.

Mike Shinoda, look what he is doing to Linkin Park's image!
Man up and get another director, I know he's your friend from college and high school but please, you used to be known for your epic, interesting and watchable videos,
I refuse to watch another Hahn video.

Edit: It's about time that everyone started speaking their real opinions on here, I am not trolling Joe, I am voicing my opinion.

lol, trust me, everyone speaks their real opinion on here. Just because it may seem the majority like Linkin Park's videos, I'm sure there's a fair amount who probably agree with you. Maybe not in as disrespectful terms, but yeah. Aren't all your threads about not liking Linkin Park's videos too?

Anyway, I'm kinda "meh" about the whole thing, it doesn't bother me so much. If I like a video, I like it, if I don't, I don't really mind. The videos aren't overly important to me so they don't really bother me if they're better than how they used to be.

Since yesterday I have been bashing BITS and Joe Hahn as director, sorry i'm not a troll I know it must look like that, but it's just my opinion; I promise not to do it anymore as i've said enough now

Breaking The Habit, What I've Done, Shadow Of The Day, Leave Out All The Rest are all very awesome videos to me, I just don't like the new ones.

I feel like the quality of the band's music videos has severely decreased since the Meteora era. Funny thing is, the quality of their musicianship has grown exponentially since that time!

Can't we just get an unambiguous plot and some band performance shots? It doesn't have to be this complicated and it doesn't need to have crazy visual effects or be in slow motion or go backwards or anything.

That being said, I agree with Joe that I care much less about music videos now than I ever have. They're a dying art form, in my opinion.

I agree with this, I love seeing the band perform but not in slow motion, especially when they slow down Rob playing drums, it completely changes the pace of the music video and just ends up confusing the viewer.

It's cheaper to hire Joe as a director then pay someone like Mark Romanek to do the next video. The only reason Mark even did Faint is because Joe didn't have enough time to do the video himself.

And for the record, everyone states their real opinions on here. There's no opinion censoring, and we welcome all opinions...both negative and positive. It's just sometimes people are trolls and start insulting other people to get their point across, and that's when they get warned (or eventually banned if the flaming continues).

In short: We encourage both negative and positive opinions on here.

Come on, it's not like they don't have the money to pay for a director

Mmm, I like your mind and what it has to say :awesome:

I consider myself one of those fans that will listen to the music and watch their videos no matter what. Does it mean I'm in love with every song on ATS and I've liked every, if any, video since Faint? No, no it doesn't.

Actually in terms of the understanding to the song, Having one of the band members to shoot their own video is better than hiring another guy and explaining the song to him.
Joe Hahn might have caused confusion and dislikes to fans about the videos, but the context he brings will no doubt be deeper (and more truly) than that of having another director.

You probably shouldn't be in here, since this thread directly concerns you.

Now that he's gone, I can tell you that everyone in the band completely supports Joe's work, and we wouldn't keep hiring him if we didn't like the videos he put out. You fail to realize that we are just as, if not more critical about anything with the Linkin Park association than you.

While you may have the opinion that there are better directors out there than Joe, that is merely that - your opinion. You are entitled to it and we are entitled to ours. All of us in the band believe that Joe, being himself a part of the creative collective force that we're calling Linkin Park, is honestly the only logical choice when it comes to bringing our songs to a visual medium.

If the idea of Joe directing our videos offends you so greatly, you don't have to watch them. The idea of art, whether it be audio, visual, or performance is that of a connection between the artist and the audience. By removing yourself from what you believe to be 'ruining a song', you inherently save the song from being ruined in your eyes. The artistic experience and how you envision it is totally and utterly controlled by you. You are able to choose how you perceive a body of work, and interpret it however you please.

If you don't want When They Come For Me to be accompanied by a video directed by Joe, you don't have to watch it. Ignorance can be bliss. If it troubles you that much, make your own interpretation of what you'd prefer to see in a video. All of us in the band are always eager to see fan interpretations of our work. That's a part of the artistic process, and something a lot of people, sometimes us at times, take for granted.

In closing, I leave you with these words. Your image of Linkin Park is solely defined by one individual - you. The way you perceive our body of work is entirely determined by what you see fit to include in your perception of us. It takes the phrase "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" to a slightly different effect than it is usually used for, but it fits. Meanwhile, we will continue collectively determining what WE want Linkin Park to be. It's up to you whether you accept this image or create your own. It's your choice.

Oh my god, if I didn't know you were some asian dude, I'd think for sure you were really Brad. That was the best impersonation of how Brad talks ever. Excellent! It sounds like an official band statement .

...so with that in mind, pay attention to what fake Brad has to say. Fake Brad speaks truth.
