I'd like that new album sounds more progressive. Like Tool, or APC sound. But on familiar LP way, with Mike's rapping and Chester's singing (unfortunately not screaming anymore) and with some Meteora sound. That's my opinion.
    We'll see... :D

So you want progressive nu-metal...? I can't fathom how that would actually sound.

How about they just say "fuck it" and do rock. That would be cool.

What would be cool is if they just said "fuck it" and did a covers album.

...Linkin Park doing a cover album doesn't sound like a half-bad idea. I rather enjoy it when bands do a cover album to introduce people to their influences.

However, for the new album, I'm just gonna wait it out. I've never found myself disappointed with Linkin Park so I doubt they'll manage it this time.

Cover album, not cover band. Just one album of the band doing covers of their influences.

I want the new album to be more edgy and less soft on the ears hahaha. Way more rapping than MTM would be great, as Mike Shinoda has always been the strongest half of the vocal team imo. I would not mind hearing a little more electronica influence from Joe Hahn and Shinoda, and think that it'd be a welcome addition to the sound. I don't want many songs like "Not Alone." Too radio friendly. I also want it to showcase Rob Bourdon by having his drums higher in the mix. I've always loved his playing and think he deserves more of the spotlight. I'm looking for a mix between like Innerpartysystem, old Linkin Park (obviously), Brand New (esp. TDAGARIM and Daisy; purely for that raw sounding edge), etc.

The only thing that MTM lacked for me from time to time was the energy that I always felt listening to songs of HT and Meteora or during those live ( intro's ) editions. Only a few songs on MTM had this energy in my opinion.

However I still love LP after MTM I would like a return of this bursting energy which always gave me goosebumps! New Divide, which is totally a new-style-LP-song had that energy and that is, keeping in mind how radio-friendly that song might have been, a very big acomplishement. The songs don't have to be 'hard' or 'heavy' but the energy and feeling that always came out of these songs must be transferred into the new-style stuff some way or another ( again: IMO ) !

Oh.... I could also live with another HT or Meteora clone ( just like that :p )

Agreed. I can't run or work out to more than half of MTM. I loved and still love running to most of the songs from HT and Meteora, as well as live tracks and Reanimation.

I want the album to be HT copy and pasted.

Haha, but then you'd have heard the songs all before.

Unless that was sarcasm. Which it probably was?

HT was great, but I think most of us have come to the realization (with however much time), that they have moved on. Shinoda even said so in a recent interview that that period in the band's sound is basically over.

    Sarcasm.

That fucking sucks huge elephant (eh, get the reference?) balls. I think that period was the best period ever, and if they never go back then what the fuck?

It's sad really. We got two albums of the style and then a complete 360 almost. I hope to god they incorporate the old sound more in the new album than they did in MTM. They sounded like a completely different band. I know alot of people think that's great but alot of us started listening to LINKIN PARK for what they were and how they sounded, and if they don't sound the same anymore then it's kind of not LINKIN PARK in a way anymore. It's hard to explain, but they should incorporate the sound that got them where they are today more than they did in 2007.
