In other places there has been a lot of discussion over something Cedric said in an interview with Drowned In Sound regarding a possible ATD-I reunion, so I figured there may as well be a thread here considering there are one or two other fans, or at least I'm pretty sure there are.

    Here's the quote:

Yeah, but essentially all that he's saying there is that he doesn't want to talk about it. The article tries to put what he says in a context that the quote itself doesn't necessarily suggest.

Only really started listening to ATD-I properly a few months ago (though I'd had the odd song like One Armed Scissor on my computer for quite some time) and Relationship of Command has grown to become one of my favourite albums extremely quickly.

Prefer them far, far more than TMV, though I'll probably get a lot of stick for saying that.

I agree. I think In/Casino/Out and ROC are at least as good as pretty much everything TMV have recorded (not including their new album as I haven't heard it yet).

This would be nice. I'm more a Volta fan, but they've got a good five albums out now, and i really don't like Sparta. So an ATD-I reunion would be good.

Sparta are quite boring for the most part.

I wouldn't be opposed to a one-off reunion or something, but the Mars Volta are just getting back into the groove of things. "Amputechture" was abysmal, to me atleast, so for them to release two solid albums basically back to back, that's a success that doesn't need to be interrupted because ATD-I fans or whoever/whatever won't let things go.

All things considered, though, At The Drive-In is basically just the Mars Volta on crack and sped up with shorter songs.

Anything these guys do is fine by me as long as they keep making music. Relationships between the ATDI bandmates seem quite sore, though, I can't really see it happening.

I agree, aside from the last part which is quite inaccurate to say the least.

ATDI has the same fucked up lyrics as the Mars Volta, just alot shorter and sped up and with more of a "punk" influence. Granted the ATDI albums aren't really "concepts", but it's the same idea in theory.

And ATDI is literally the Mars Volta on crack. Or whatever drugs Cedric and Omar were shooting up back then.

I haven't listened to At the Drive-In in a fair while, but I'd be pretty stoked if they got back together. Relationship of Command is still one of my favourite albums.

Though, I have to agree with Casey and say I'd rather see a one-off world tour deal, so as to not interfere with TMV's good run of late.

I wouldn't be opposed to a half 'n half setlist of ATDI material, then some Mars Volta stuff. Fuck it, the band is already as big as the fucking Polyphonic Spree, so why not.
