Most of us [should] know that Audioslave was formed by the remains of two great bands...Soundgarden and Rage against the machine...

Now that these two bands have merged together, forming a "supergroup" as some of the critics have said...it's now time to ask you all this:

Are Audioslave better than the two orignal bands they were from, or is this just a pointless attempt for a longer turn in the limelight?

    debate my friends...debate...

IMO, better than soundgarden, but no WAY better than RATM, Zach de la Rocha is the difference here. Rage had more of a purpose and a message in their music too. They are still good though! Tom Morello is an awesome guitarist!
Did you know that Tom and Adam Jones from Tool learned guitar from each other in high-school? I like Tom a bit better. He has a more straight-forward guitar sound, but Adam has a lot of distortions and stuff which is really cool. He also has some great riffs and stuff, and some guitar solos.

    Contributing to the debate!

I love audioslve way better than any of the other two bands. Chris Cornell, I am sure that is his name and forgive me for the spelling too if it ain't right, rules. His voice is just so amazing he can make anything sound great. Ya Audioslave rules!!

I like Audioslave and I have their CD but I think that RATM is much better. I've only heard a few Soundgarden songs so I don't have much of an opinion on them.

After hearing the Audioslave album (by stealing it from my dad :shifty: )
I honestly think that they are very slightly better than Soundgarden...

...but they are nothing compared to what Rage against the machine were like.

Like somebody else said...their songs had more of a point, such as "sleep now in the fire"

...Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the lyrics in the Audioslave material are as strong as Rage against the machine's were...

in my opinion, i think "like a stone" was terrible choice for a single. the video drones on and is extremely boring, unlike cochise, which had a nice up tempo chorus with a very active video. the band sitting around a house singing and not doing anything for 5 mins gets pretty boring. Muchmusic actually yanked it 3 mins in during an episode of "Ed's Big Wham Bam" (a show where they bring people off the street to rate new videos wiht "smash" or "trash").

Audioslave is pretty good, although their songs are meaningful, they have little energy behind the songs. Their songs need to be faster with more intense vocals.

Yea Audioslave is far superior to the other two bands. I always listen to Cochise when in the gym.
