which of the two is more musically talented. now Reznor does have the upper hand on this because he's about 12 years older than Shinoda, but still. so, musical instruments:

    Trent Reznor:

    Vocals
    Piano
    Synthesizer
    Keyboards
    Guitars
    Bass Guitar
    Drums
    Programming
    Saxophone
    Tuba

    Mike Shinoda:

    Singing
    Rapping
    Guitar
    Keyboard

I was surprised with the all the stuff Trent could do. what do you think?

This one obviously goes to Trent. Mike's a talented guy and he's one of the most talented people of his time, but Trent is far more talented than he is. There's no question about it.

I have a feeling that posting the instruments they play made some people, who were unfamiliar with Trent's work, vote for him. Maybe not though. I haven't heard enough NiN to base my theory. (I have 5 or 6 songs by them).

It would most likely be a fanboy.

    My vote goes for Trent.

Trent is an absolute genius. Not many artists out there can parallel his creativity and ingenuity, not to mention his musicality. Not only is his music much more creative than Linkin Park's, but no artists can create such beautiful music (see: And All That Could Have Been, Something I Can Never Have (Still), Leaving Hope, Hurt), and turn on a dime and deliver something brutal (see: Vessel, Perfect Drug, You Know What You Are, March of the Pigs). The man will go down in time as one of the most innovative, relevant, and brilliant musicians of our era.

If you don't know much about Nine Inch Nails, I don't even see the point of making this thread. It's an obvious decision.

    TrentFTW.

And this thread should really be closed, it's such an obvious landslide vote that there's no point.

well jeez sorry for making this thread then, I didn't know it'd spark such a rant. anyways, these're the songs I have by Nine Inch Nails:

    Wish
    Hurt
    Head Like a Hole
    The Hand that Feeds
Every Day is Exactly the Same
    The Perfect Drug
    Only
    The Beginning of the End
    Survivalism
    Capital G

I guess it'd be Trent but, for me, he's one of the most overrated musicians of the past couple of decades, even though I like his music. I'd rather listen to Mike at the moment anyway.

    Amen.

The thing is that although this is a Linkin Park forum, I see that a very large number of it's members are Nine Inch Nails fans. The problem with this topic is that yes, Trent is a very talented musician and song writer, however I myself am not a huge fan of Nine Inch Nails and would choose LP over them any day of the week. The point I'm getting at is that some people might be choosing opinion over fact.

I'm not gonna give an answer to the quiestion because I'm not as knowledgable about Nine Inch Nails than everyone else here so it could very well be that Reznor is alot better than Mike musically, however I'm much more familiar with Mike's work and to be honest there isn't a piece of music that Mike has been involved in that I can say I don't like whereas a significant number of NIN songs are simply terrible IMO. That's not to say there aren't alot of NIN songs I quite enjoy.

    Flame away.

    P.S
Not to sound like a fanboy or anything but Mike can do a lot more musically than stated in your list mcpancakes. ;)
