The 20 Greatest Guitar Solos...USA style!

    http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/...ad.php?t=22618

Remember that thread, some British magazine picked the top 20 solos of all time, and most of the list was simply bullshit. Well a rock station down in Oregon picked what they believed to be the 20 greatest guitar solos...trust me, this list is better but i'm sure some people will disagree...its a fucking list after all.

    1. The Star Spangled Banner – JIMI HENDRIX
    2. Free Bird – LYNYRD SKYNYRD
    3. Eruption – VAN HALEN
    4. Stairway to Heaven – LED ZEPPELIN
    5. One – METALLICA
    6. Comfortably Numb – PINK FLOYD
    7. War Pigs – BLACK SABBATH
    8. All Along the Watchtower – JIMI HENDRIX
    9. November Rain – GUNS N' ROSES
    10. You Shook Me All Night Long – AC/DC
    11. Master of Puppets – METALLICA
    12. Alive – PEARL JAM
    13. Bohemian Rhapsody – QUEEN
    14. Man in the Box – ALICE IN CHAINS
    15. Sweet Child O Mine – GUNS N' ROSES
    16. Cemetery Gates – PANTERA
    17. Another Brick in the Wall Pt. 2 – PINK FLOYD
    18. Bulls on Parade – RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE
    19. Walk – PANTERA
    20. Crazy Train – OZZY OSBOURNE

It's better than the previous list but Sweet Child O' Mine should still be at number one IMO

Meh, as I said before, if you're only gonna have one Ozzy solo in there, it should be Bark at the Moon, with Crazy Train or No More Tears second. Jake E. Lee = ridiculously underrated guitarist (where the fuck did he disappear to anyway?).

One is #5? I'll agree it's one of Kirk's better solos, but it's just a really fast tapping riff and then some stuff that's all based off one scale for the most part. Master of Puppets is a lot crazier solo.

And I think the station being from the Northwest had a lot to do with Alice in Chains making the list, Jerry's a great guitarist but I dunno if Man in the Box is really a top 20 all-time solo.

Even though it's not necessarily Tom Morello's best solo, it's nice to see an Evil Empire song get chosen over those from the other RATM albums. That was their best album musically.

as much as i like their stuff i must say, their self titled album sounds exactly the same as Evil Empire...

Exactly what it said. I meant that Evil Empire does sound similar to s/t, but it's just better. Cooler riffs, better song structures, you know.

Am I the only one who doesn't see the 'omigawd greatness' in the sweet child of mine solo? I mean sure its a good solo, but #1? Hell no.

This still isn't that great a list. Most of the entries are either overrated metal or obvious classics.

I still think the list is a load of bull. Derek, I could never understand the Sweet Child of Mine solo either.
I once stole an entire city and put it in my back pocket.

Slayer's solos really aren't all that great. Sure, they're fast as hell, but they aren't melodic in any sense, and a lot of times just sound like a malfunctioning Whammy pedal.

As for me, I think that list is a bunch of shit, just like most of the ones like it. The only one I think really deserves to be where it is is Eruption. And Star Spangled Banner at #1? Like...WTF. Maybe it's just me, but I can't stand that one.

Also looks like a list of all the songs people at my school can play, minus the actual solos, of course.
