Ok, this is a poem I wrote right after I got out of lecture today. My professor was talking about poetry and the American family. It seems that food is always a LARGE part of family so that was a theme aswell.
I wrote this in about 5 minutes...if that, and it is all originally what I wrote down. I sent it to my professor and now she wants me to read it infront of the class and there are 150+ students in there.
Anyway, I'd really like to know what you think! or if there are any critcisims. =)
Building Blocks
The American Family
Thrust around the table
The only common, not so foreign ground
Where you always have conversation
The food is always good (at least you say it is)
Starches
Proteins
Fats
All congeal together
Blending
Mixing
Forming new concoctions
How many ways can you prepare potatoes and still call them potatoes?
How many days can you eat pizza in a row?
Is McDonald’s really food?
…or some fake glimpse at fake food and fake happiness?
I’m Lovin’ It, I tell you!
Food is life, life is food
Our history is Built off it
Our future Destroyed by it
Fighting amongst ourselves with the thing that bring us Together
Two can play at this game….
