    That's pretty tough.

I'm sorry, guys. We Major is better, in my opinion.

There were some songs on The Rising Tied which disappointed me a little. Such as The Battle. There were no songs on We Major (except the remixes) that disappointed me at all.

Don't get me wrong, The Rising Tied is great. But We Major definitely has more potential. But the decision is tough.

The Rising Tied has excellent music, and only half of the songs have excellent lyrics.

We Major (counting out the remixes) have excellent lyrics and only half the songs have excellent music.

But We Major > The Rising Tied.

    [/end]

[edit] Now, if songs such as Spraypaint & Ink Pens and Dolla were on The Rising Tied, instead of The Battle and In Stereo, The Rising Tied would have beat We Major. But this is just me.

You can't do that. You're counting out songs from the mixtape but not the album? That's pretty biased.

Mike said that TRT would include an interlude. "The Battle" is an interlude. It's not even considered a song.

Well, think about it this way.

The remixes weren't technically remixes. All they did was switch the music in the background. The songs were pretty much already made in the first place, so I don't consider them to count.

But if they should be counted, then The Rising Tied matches We Major.

I'm always bad at making points.

All in all, We Major was better. But The Rising Tied is still great. I'm done with this thread.

The Rising Tied easily. I loved the mixtape at first but now I can't stand more than half the songs or Green's voice. We Major, being a mixtape, doesn't flow like an album. Just because the songs have a little bit of DJ mixing means nothing. TRT flows and feels more complete. The ONLY thing wrong with TRT is probably The Battle. It's the only thing I'd skip. On We Major I only listen to Bloc Party, S.C.O.M., Spraypaint, Petrified (Remix), There They Go and Cover and Duck.

We Major is more of a party record. An introduction to Mike's production skills. We Major is the the guy in the back of the class good for a few laughs and stories, while The Rising Tied is the star pupil destined for greatness.

And yeah, you can't NOT count the remixes because they're "not really remixes". What does that even mean? In rap a remix is usually just a new beat. Rap isn't like Reanimation.

Edit: I can see Spraypaint being on TRT, but In Stereo kills Dolla.

I was afraid that We Major was going to be better than The Rising Tied, but after this leak and hearing the songs from both, The Rising Tied wins by far.

I prefer The Rising Tied. Album songs always have a different sound and feel than mixtape songs (obviously). Most of the We Major songs are disposable. The only thing I wished was on TRT from Mike is the faster and more complex rhymes like in It's Going Down. The closest he comes is High Road (one of my favorite tracks). I give the album a 4/5 though. It's better than what I expected. And on a side note, rap/hip-hop is my favorite genre..

I'm enjoying The Rising Tied much more than We Major. Some of the songs on The Rising Tied could've been better, but there were more good songs than bad songs. On the mix-tape, there were more bad songs than good songs. I think that if "100 Degrees," "Dolla," "Spraypaint & Inkpens" and "Cover & Duck" were on The Rising Tied, it'd be perfect.

In rap music that's the case. Period, really. You're rarely going to see emcees spitting new lyrics. A "remix" is basically just giving a song a new beat in rap music (and most music period).

Yeah, I agree. If those tracks were on TRT, it would be perfect. I think TRT is better, but it would be a better / closer competition if it wasn't for the remixes & annoying rewinding during the mixtape tracks. Also, if they didn't repeat numerous phrases throughout the mixtape, that would have made it better too.
