I was at a death metal concert tonight. They had about 3 bands on the bill. My friend & I went back to his house to get his hoodie, and we were talking about making a band that blends two completely different genres together. I came up with Ska-Rap. He came up with Country-Metal. If you could make a band with totally different genre combinations, what would it be?
Metal - Hophop I'll call my band Linkin Park ----------------------- But seriously... Trance/Mexican Folk
Folk-Metal is one of the best genres ever. I would like to see French pop mixed with German Tanzmetal. Think Alizée meets Rammstein
AFI has kinda experimented that a little bit, Death of Seasons comes to mind with the techno part in the second verse... I think gangsta rap/pop-punk would be interesting, lol.

LOL that would be hilarious! Speaking of gospel though, if church was like they portray on movies like the Blues Brothers I'd be there every Sunday. Personally, a genre blend that stuck in my mind was Evil Gothic/Jazz. B)

Well done to you Do you like ordinary folk music too?
If you mean what I think I mean, I really haven't taken the time to get into it. However, there is this one Canadian jazz/folk/roots band called Great Uncles of the Revolution, and their second release, Blow The House Down, featuring trumpet player Kevin Turcotte (which is why I bought it as he taught me at the Jazz camp I went to this summer). Actually it won the band a Juno award (Canadian equivalent of a Grammy) in 2003 for best Jazz recording, but it has some really cool folk stuff going on, acoustic/slide guitar, violins, string bass, and other folk instruments with some jazz influences. Its quite brilliant, but its pretty much impossible to get over the internet, for shame.
Skindred is kinda like ska/rap/metal. I don't like them very much. I'd like to hear ska/jazz. Imagine Charlie Parker with reggae beats...

You should check out the New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble and the Rotterdam Ska-Jazz Foundation....two amazing bands that have that ska/jazz mix and play some incredible stuff. A friend of mine is hugely into jazz, ska, dub, and reggae so I've heard quite a bit from these two groups. B) Another cool thing would be Jazz/Death metal! Wait, Cynic has already done that with their album "Focus" which is an absolute masterpiece. Death vocals, jazz chords, and fretless bass...yeah! But it would be cool to hear a bit more of a jazz influence with the death metal though, some saxophones and stuff too

me too.. throw some live strings in there and you got me sold hehehe
I was thinking that too but I just didn't know what they were called. I love the piano-live strings combination on a beat.
Screamo/bluegrass. Ting-di-di-ling-di-di-ling-ting-ting WHY'S THIS ALWAYS HAPPENING TO ME ting-di-di-ling-di-di-ling-ting-ting
Accoustic Guitar-Rap I might sound inexperienced, but I've NEVER heard that combination before. I'm very interested in how this would turn out.
