Hey guys I was hearing something about this new sport thing called Parkour and how they jump off of buildings and everything. Can some one please tell me more about this because I would really like to know, it sounds kool.
I told you five minutes to please stop typing like that. Do you know how moronic it makes you look? And how ridiculously annoying and frustrating it is to read for all of the other members? Please stop.
I sincerly hope you heed my warning this time. Please read the rules and guide atop the Newbie Camp forums.
I heard about it on CSI: NY. Apparenlty, it had something to do with their case and it was very interesting. That's the last I heard of it until now.
I've been doing it for around two years now. I'd advise you to go to Urban Freeflow- It's the site I belong to and easily the best resource for le parkour on the web. Basically, parkour is a way to get from point A to point B as quickly and as fluidly as possible. What other people preceive as obstacles, ie- walls trees, benches fences etc. we see as things you can jump or climb over. The best article explaining it can be found at Urban Freeflow- Art In Motion I'd advise you to be careful if you do start learning the art form- don't rush into trying tricks you haven't practiced- or you will find yourself in the emergency room. But really, parkour is more tha "jumping off buildings" as you put it. It's a way of life, and there are several wonderful articles about the Philosophy of parkour on the urbanfreeflow site. I'd advise you to go there.
wow..that is possibly the most amazing thing that I have ever seen! I'd love to learn..but would probably wind up killing myself in the process..tahtnks so much for sharing this!
Parkour WAS in that Nike commercial, if I remember correctly. I'm also into Parkour and I frequent Urban Freeflow all the time. It's a great place to learn.
any tips for a beginner living in New Jersey? lol I really want to start but I'm not sure how or were I'm going to learn/practice. Also I'm afraid I'll hurt myself and my mom will kill me! haha. Just wondering.
First, practice some of the moves just on your own. Practice some rolls in the lawn. It's very important that you get the fundamentals down before you actually go at it. Second, find a good place to Parkour and go do it! Concentrate first on being able to integrate some of the fundamentals into your run, and when you can do that, start trying new stuff out. It's good to get a video camera operator person there to video your run, it's enlightening and it can bring about some points about what you did wrong or what you could do better. Good luck!
Thank you so much. In about a month I'll check back with you and give you updats on whats going down. I'll find you somehow..if not on this thread then I'll PM you or something..anyway...I'm gonna get going...i have a sudden urge to write a new song and a melody jsut popped into my head...BYZ!
