I dunno if I can ask here but.... Can someone tell me where I can download Invision Power Board? I downloaded it from the Invision Board home site, but when I go to the instalation file (I must open it), Internet Explorer say "The file cannot be found." I dunno why. I uploaded it to Brinkster. When I uploaded it to another host it works, but I have another problem - I can see only the sorce code of the file, and not the installation start screen.
Alex set up the forums. But he's way too busy to help anyone set up their boards. All I know how to do is work the forums Admin Control Panel and post. www.google.com has some pretty good tutorials, I hear.
It's pretty simple, just follow the instructions that came with the .zip. You will however need a host (that allows for mySQL databases) and an ftp client to transfer the files to the host. Anywho, if you still can't get it working, ask for help in IBF forums, they'll have more helpful people lol. I'd like to help, but I don't know how well you know what you're doing and I don't have enough time to teach
Thank you guys! So, my host is Brinkster and it allows for mySQL databases. I haven't ftp client, but I already upload all files with the host's file manager (is it the same thing?.. I mean with the same final effect) . But I don't know what is "CHMOD" that I have to set to "0777" for some files. I don't know how to set it. After the upload I must run the instalation file "sm_install.php" but it doesn't work (I see "The file cannot be found") So i upload all files on 250free.com (but I think it doesn't allow mySQL databases) and there the installation file works, but I can see only its code. I the manual I have I found the problem: But I don't understand how to fix it... :wth: I think that Brinkster is better, but I don't know why it doesn't work. If I must use ftp client... is Microsoft WebPubblicer good. But I think that Brinkster doesn't allow ftp. Do you know some free host that allows ftp and MySQL?
I dont think Brinkster has PHP, and honestley, there arent any free hosts that I can think of that have PHP and mySQL for you to use invision board, you're probably going to have to pay for a host or use something like invisionfree.com Nope, you have to pay if you want support at the official IPB forums, they lock any support topics the second they see them unless you're a paying customer.
Really? They used to help me out all the time for free. Guess they've changed their policy. Sorry I think I used brinkster to setup my test board.
Setting up an Invision Power Board is actually pretty easy. You go to http://www.invisionfree.com, or http://www.invisionboard.com and you register your own board. If you register an Invision Free board, you don't pay anything, but there's less features. Invision Power Board has more features, but you have to pay.
I don't know how to install it or whatever, but my boards use ClicDev. It's has all the features that an Invision board has, but I think it looks nicer. I didn't install mine though.
While we're on topic.... IPB 2.0 PF1 is going to be released sometime this afternoon [upgrader from 1.* included in download] Finally. Oh and if anyone wants a board installed, leave me a PM, ill get to it after my vacation
