Stone Temple Pilots To Perform At The Stars Of The Season Benefit

Each year, the Cardon Children's Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona hold a fundraising benefit called Stars Of The Season. The Cardon Children's Medical Center is a state-of-the-art pediatric medical facility that specializes in providing family-centered care in an environment created just for kids. The Stars Of The Season event was created to benefit programs and services at the Cardon Children's Medical Center. This is especially important to the patients at the facility as a way to help restore hope to the children fighting complex diseases, injuries and defects.

On their facebook page, Stars Of The Season have announced that the Chester Bennington fronted Stone Temple Pilots will be headlining their fundraiser this year at a yet-to-be-announced time and place.

Chester Bennington has been no stranger to the Stars Of The Season fundraiser or the Cardon Children's Medical Center. According to this heart-warming must-read article, Chester and his family have volunteered their time to visit the medical center with their Boston Terrier, who helps as a therapy companion dog. Also, it has been stated that Chester has performed at the Stars Of The Season benefit before.

Here is the Cardon Children's Medical Center's tribute to Linkin Park featuring their staff and patients.

Personally, having kids, when a celebrity takes the time to be involved with a children's hospital, that speaks volumes of their character. When your child is unwell and needs to go to the doctor, you will do anything within your means to make them feel better. Finding out that Chester is willing to do that for other people's kids is something that brings a smile to my face and absolutely makes me proud to call myself a Linkin Park fan.

Linkin Park Announce 9th LPU Summit In Hong Kong

Linkin Park has announced that their 9th International LPU Summit will be held in Hong Kong on August 15th, 2013.

We are excited to announce that LPU will be hosting the 9th International LPU Summit on August 15, 2013 in Hong Kong*. Previous LPU Summits have taken place in London, Sydney, Chicago, Hamburg, Tokyo, Camden, Cape Town, and Auckland. Summit activities give fans experiences they can't get anywhere else and are a special part of the LP Underground membership experience.

PAST SUMMIT ACTIVITIES HAVE INCLUDED:

-Meet & Greet with Linkin Park
-Watching Linkin Park warm up on stage before doors
-Backstage tours
-Walking across Linkin Park's stage
-Raffle for a chance to watch part of the show from the side of the stage or take photos from the photo pit

Passes for the Summit will be available to LPU members only starting Saturday, June 1 at 10:00 AM local time HERE.* Summit passes are FREE for LPU Plus Pass ($60) members as a benefit to your membership. If you have a $25 LPU pass, you can purchase a Summit pass for $50, or purchase a new $60 LPU Plus Pass membership for a free pass. Members will only be able to reserve ONE Summit pass each, if you have friends who want to try to attend they must JOIN LPU to get access to this benefit. Note that you must be a CURRENT MEMBER at the time of the Summit, so if your membership expires beforehand, be sure to renew.

There will be limited passes available for the Summit, and they have sold out very quickly for previous Summits (sometimes within minutes). To ensure you have the best opportunity possible to get a pass, make sure you are online prior to the 10:00 AM LOCAL Hong Kong time on June 1. Those fans who are able to reserve a pass in their cart have 20 minutes to check out. If they do not do so in time, the passes are dumped back into the pool. Because of this, if you do not immediately see passes available, you can try refreshing the page throughout the next couple of hours. Please only reserve a pass if you are 100% certain you will be able to travel to the Summit and attend.

The Summit will begin the morning of Thursday, August 15 (exact time TBD) and will last all day until doors. Please make sure you are available to attend before you reserve a Summit pass. Those who reserve Summit passes and do not show up will risk losing LPU privileges.

Linkin Park Spread the Word About the Sunset Strip Music Festival... Hybrid Theory Style

Today something awesome happened. You may remember that last week Linkin Park announced that they will be playing the Sunset Strip Music Festival on August 3rd in West Hollywood, CA. The Sunset Strip Music Festival is a three day event which has bands performing at various popular locations along the iconic strip on Sunset Boulevard. What's so great about this show is that Linkin Park will be playing the ultimate home-town gig, as a bunch of these venues are home to some of Linkin Park's first performances as a band, including Whisky A Go-Go which is the first known venue the band ever played together on November 14, 1997 as Xero. The Roxy which Linkin Park played first on September 5, 2000 and once more on July 18, 2004 for their memorable collaboration concert with Jay-Z. House of Blues was first played on March 4, 2002 with their last performance at the intimate venue being one of last year's most notable shows on May 18, 2012. Of course, these are just the shows we know about, there's probably countless others unaccounted for as Linkin Park just started gigging locally.

Well today Linkin Park did something that they probably haven't done in a long time, went out into the LA area to hand out flyers and posters for their upcoming show on the Sunset Strip. This is a great way to pay homage to their roots in the city that started it all, and an awesome callback to something they were only too familiar with fifteen years ago. Not only did they become Street Soldiers for the day, they also mass photocopied the posters at the store, which are all hand drawn and promote the appearance of "Hybrid Theory" and "Xero". It's awesome to see the band take this approach for their last US show of the year, and if you head into the LA area today, you might just catch this guerrilla marketing at work.

Chester Bennington Confirms Joining Stone Temple Pilots as Lead Singer, Possible New Album & Tour

After the out of nowhere announcement yesterday that Chester Bennington had joined Stone Temple Pilots on stage at the KROQ Weenie Roast for a full set and recorded a brand new song titled "Out of Time" for their upcoming album, it was all but confirmed that Chester had in fact joined Stone Temple Pilots as the lead singer, replacing former vocalist Scott Weiland. Today a backstage interview from the KROQ Weenie Roast has appeared online where Chester delves into the details of his new venture and how he is now lead singer for both Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots going forward. He also confirms that he and STP have some songs in the works for a potential album and a possible tour sometime in the future. Chester will join Stone Temple Pilots on the two announced dates on the tour schedule; including tonight, May 19th for BFD 2013 in Mountain View, CA and May 30th at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA. Chester Bennington of Linkin Park Releases New Song "Out of Time" with Stone Temple Pilots

So this came out of nowhere. It appears that Chester Bennington of Linkin Park has been hard at work recording new music with the Stone Temple Pilots. Linkin Park's lead vocalist tonight unveiled the brand new track titled "Out of Time", which is the first track from what appears to be an upcoming new Stone Temple Pilots album. It's unknown if Chester has in fact recorded more tracks, a full album or just this one song with Stone Temple Pilots, but Chester appears in the promotional band photos on the newly redesigned StoneTemplePilots.com.

Chester also made a surprise appearance at tonght's KROQ Weenie Roast where he performed Out of Time for the very first time alongside the Stone Temple Pilots, where he then went on to play the whole show. Following the performance of Out of Time, the song then had its worldwide premier on KROQ, followed by a simultaneously released promotional Out of Time Teaser Video via the newly official Stone Temple Pilots YouTube channel. It's worth noting that Stone Temple Pilots have added two dates to their upcoming tour schedule; Tonight, May 19th for BFD 2013 in Mountain View, CA and May 30th at Club Nokia in Los Angeles, CA. Although it's not absolutely confirmed Chester will take the role as full-time vocalist for STP, it's more than likely that he will take the stage for these announced dates with Chester stating on Twitter that this was the first show of his run with STP.

This move came out of nowhere with no prior announcement from the band or Chester himself, but definitely makes sense considering the Stone Temple Pilots are known to be Chester's favourite band of all time. Chester will join remaining band members Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz, replacing former lead-vocalsit Scott Weiland who's status with the band was officially terminated on February of this year. Here's what Dean DeLeo had to say about choosing Chester to be their vocalist for Out of Time.

Here's what Chester had to say about working with Stone Temple Pilots:

There's definitely a lot of questions in regards to Chester's involvement with Stone Temple Pilots. With confirmed tour dates, promotional images and a new song with footage of Chester in the studio with STP, it definitely looks like this could be considered a side project rather than just the collaboration on one song. Chester Bennington will be on KROQ radio's Kevin & Bean Show this coming Monday, May 20th to discuss his work with STP and exactly what it entails. In the mean time it's worth noting Chester has not left Linkin Park and never will, as he said tonight on Twitter, stating "FYI, I will never leave LP. We are currently working on a new record and its awesome!"

Linkin Park to Headline the Sunset Strip Music Festival in LA on August 3

Linkin Park have officially announced that on August 3rd, 2013 they will be headlining the Sunset Strip Music Festival in West Hollywood, CA in what will be the band's only performance in the US for the rest of 2013 and yes, this time they mean it.

LPUnderground pre-sale tickets will be available May 14 at 12PM PDT (TODAY). Public tickets go on sale Wednesday May 15 at 9AM PDT (TOMORROW) at EventBrite. LPU members buying pre-sale tickets will have access to an exclusive area right at the front of the stage as a section has been reserved only for LPU members, which also come at a discounted price. If you're not already a member, you can join the LPUnderground here. It's also worth noting a significant portion of ticket sales will go towards Music For Relief to benefit disaster relief efforts.

The Sunset Strip Music Festival is a three day event which has bands performing at various popular locations along West Hollywood's iconic strip on Sunset Boulevard. The festival originated in 2008 and has featured such acts as The Smashing Pumpkins, Marilyn Manson, The Offspring and many others.

Iconic participating venues include the House of Blues, Roxy Theatre, Whisky A Go-Go, Key Club and Viper Room. Some of these venues are home to some of Linkin Park's most prominent gigs of the past, including Whisky A Go-Go which is the first known venue the band ever played together on November 14, 1997 as Xero. We played our first shows as a band in 1998, on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. When we were approached about an opportunity to play a special show on the strip, we couldn't say no. We are excited to announce that we'll be headlining the Sunset Strip Music Festival in West Hollywood, CA on August 3. This time we mean it… this will be the ONLY U.S. show for the rest of 2013.

Linkin Park originally stated that their show in Las Vegas, NV at Planet Hollywood on February 16, 2013 was to be their only North America date of the year but with this announcement, it seems they have managed to fit in one more show for the US fans before they head off to Asia as part of the Living Things World Tour in August.

The three day event takes place at the participating venues for the first two days, whilst the third is a street festival which covers the whole strip. Linkin Park will perform on the final day of the festival, Saturday, August 3rd as headlining act of the street festival.

Linkin Park Add Tour Date for Manila, Philippines on August 13th, 2013

Linkin Park have officially announced a new tour date for their upcoming Asia leg of the Living Things World Tour. Linkin Park will play in Manila, Philippines on August 13th, 2013 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. LPU pre-sale tickets will be on sale this Friday, May 10th. This will be the second time Linkin Park have ever played the Philippines with their first show being back on June 15th, 2004, which also took place in Manila.

What Is the LPA Monthly Mix-Up?
LPA Monthly Mix-Up is an ambitious concept intended to showcase the massive amount of musical talent currently unheard among the Linkin Park fan community. Every month, we will be challenging fans to compete and show off their musical skills, using any and all tools available to them to create their entry. At the conclusion of each competition period, our staff will then go through each entry submitted, and pick our absolute favorite to be featured on the site as the "Winner Of The Month". To promote fairness, runner ups will also be shown, but only one lucky Linkin Park fan will walk away with the honor of being featured as the "Monthly Winner". Now that we have that out of the way view this month's theme below.

Our official theme for the month of MAY 2013 is:

LP VS DAFT PUNK

Monthly Mix-Up will be returning to a mash up themed contest for the month of May! With the popularity of hit electro duo, Daft Punk, and the clear influences that they've had on the musical industry, remixers are to find creative ways to incorporate the duo into Linkin Park's discography. Whether it's continuing the electronic samples and genre style or completely reversing it and following a live audio sound, remixers are challenged to mash up at least one Daft Punk song with at least one other Linkin Park song. As usual, creative freedom is allotted as long as general rules are met! Good luck and we look forward to entries this month!

Linkin Park have uploaded a new LPTV episode which covers Part 2 of their recent Australian Tour including the shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

This LPTV also features a previously unheard remix of CASTLE OF GLASS around the 2.08 minute mark, however, it is currently unknown whether this remix will be officially released.

Linkin Park Add Another Date to Their Asia Tour: Lantau, Hong Kong - August 15th

Linkin Park announced early today that they will be playing another date as part of their Asia Tour this coming August. The band will play the Asia World Arena in Lantau, Hong Kong on August 15, 2013. This is the fourth date the band have scheduled for this Summer, following announced shows in Osaka, Japan, Tokyo, Japan & Taipei, Taiwan. LP Underground pre-sale tickets will be on sale from April 29th at 10 AM (local time) at LPUnderground.com. Tickets go on sale to the general public on May 3rd at 10 AM (local time). Linkin Park has just announced on their Twitter that they will be partnering with Omaze, a site dedicated to unitinge charity work with "artists, athletes, and luminaries" in order to help others "achieve their dreams", in order to give away a chance for one fan to get a VIP opportunity to get an inside look at the band during a live recording session for their next album and to earn a signed poster or drum head. The prize includes airfare and hotel, and the contest ends May 31st. The winner will have the opportunity to hear new material that the band is working on!

The purpose of the contest is for entries and/or donations to go to Music For Relief and Hurricane Sandy victims. Entries are a minimum $10 donation. This is a special opportunity for fans to contribute by helping those in need while entering a once in a lifetime contest to see the band in a unique setting!

Linkin Park to Play in Taipei Mid-August

Linkin Park has just announced on their official website and Twitter that they will be returning to Taiwan this summer, August 17th, to play at the Taipei Arena. LP Underground members will be able to buy pre-sale tickets April 17 at 12 pm (local time) from LPUnderground.com. Tickets go on sale to the general public on April 18 at 12 pm (local time).
