-the bomber is 19 and he was surrounded by alot of propaganda that may have motivated and to cause that explosion.

propaganda is something that can convince people to do things they don't want to do at the same time this attack killed people and there is no such thing as an accident in this drastic situation.

therefore the question i pose to LP fans:
is he guilty or not guilty? if he is/isn't please state a reason why think think that way

I'm going to be honest...as childish as it might be, my first reaction was "fuck yes it isn't a brown guy". That being said though the amount of bigotry surrounding this really disgusts me. So many people jumping to the conclusion that it must be a Muslim terrorist with no real proof. The New York Post had a picture up of this 17 year old kid portraying him as one of the suspects that authorities were apparently looking for:

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-...ect/?tag=socsh

The kid had nothing to do with it he was just at the damn marathon, happened to have a bag, and had brown skin. He's scared to leave his house and is being attacked at school because of this. I hope his family can get a good lawyer and sue The Post for this.

A man who saw the suspect:

North Korea moves missile with 'considerable range' to coast, says Seoul
South Korea's defence minister confirms move, but says North is showing no other signs of preparing for full-scale conflict

South Korea's defence minister has confirmed that Pyongyang has moved a missile with "considerable range" to its east coast, but said there were no signs that North Korea was preparing for a full-scale conflict despite the continuing standoff.

The confirmation from Kim Kwan-jin came hours after North Korea's military announced it had been authorised to attack the US using "smaller, lighter and diversified" nuclear weapons.

Kim said he did not know why the North had moved the missile, but suggested it "could be for testing or drills".

He dismissed Japanese media speculation that the missile could be a KN-08, which is believed to be a long-range missile that - if operable - could hit the US.

Kim told a parliamentary committee meeting that although the missile had considerable range, it was not sufficient to hit the US mainland.

His description could suggest a missile known as the Musudan, which has a range of 3,000km (1,800 miles). That would make Japan and South Korea potential targets along with US bases in both countries.

There are doubts, however, about the missile's accuracy and range, and some suspect that long-range missiles unveiled by Pyongyang at a parade last year were actually mock-ups.

Kim said that if North Korea were preparing for a full-scale conflict, there would be more signs of the mobilisation of troops and supplies.

So far, he said, South Korean military officials had found no evidence of such preparations.

"[North Korea's recent threats] are rhetorical threats," he said. "I believe the odds of a full-scale provocation are small."

He did, however, add that North Korea might mount a small-scale provocation as it did in 2010, when it shelled a South Korean island, killing four people.

The Pentagon announced on Wednesday night that it would deploy a missile defence system known as the terminal high altitude area defence system to the US Pacific territory of Guam to strengthen regional protection against a possible attack.

The deployment is the biggest indication yet that Washington regards North Korea's sabre-rattling as more worrying than similar threats over the past few years. It also suggests the US is preparing for a long standoff.

The $800m (£529m) battery was not due for deployment until 2015, but will now be in place within weeks. There had been debate within the Pentagon about deploying it first to the Middle East to protect Israel, but the threat from North Korea is now viewed as more serious.

A Pentagon statement said the deployment was "a precautionary move to strengthen our regional defence posture against the North Korean regional ballistic missile threat".

On Wednesday, the US defence secretary, Chuck Hagel, said North Korea posed "a real and clear danger" to South Korea, Japan and the US.

"They have a nuclear capacity now," he told the National Defense University in Washington. "They have a missile delivery capacity now. And so, as they have ratcheted up their bellicose, dangerous rhetoric, and some of the actions they have taken over the last few weeks, present a real and clear danger."

His response contrasted with more muted comments by other members of the Obama administration over the past few days as they sought to reduce tensions.

China also voiced strong fears about rising tensions on the Korean peninsula. Its foreign ministry spokesman, Hong Lei, told reporters in Beijing that the country's deputy foreign minister, Zhang Yesui, had expressed serious concern over the crisis at a meeting with ambassadors from the US and South Korea.

"In the present situation, China believes all sides must remain calm and exercise restraint and not take actions which are mutually provocative and must certainly not take actions which will worsen the situation," Lei said.

North Korea followed Tuesday's announcement that it would resume operations to produce weapons-grade plutonium by barring South Korean workers from entering a jointly-run industrial complex.

The Kaesong industrial complex, six miles north of the heavily fortified border that has separated the two countries for six decades, is viewed as the last remaining symbol of co-operation.

The North has disrupted operations at Kaesong before, but Wednesday's move caused particular concern as South Korea and the US attempt to respond to a catalogue of provocations by Pyongyang.

The disruption at Kaesong, which draws on investment from more than 100 South Korean firms and employs workers from both countries, was seen by some experts as a sign of a swift deterioration in an already tense situation.

In recent weeks, North Korea has threatened a nuclear attack against the US and its overseas bases – a hollow threat, experts say, given the regime's relatively primitive nuclear and missile technology – and declared a "state of war" with South Korea.

China is North Korea's only remaining ally and its biggest aid donor. Its description of the situation in such bleak terms is being interpreted as a sign of growing frustration with the unpredictable behaviour of the 30-year-old North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un.

North Korea threatens to follow up nuclear test and 'destroy South Korea'...

North Korea threatens to follow up nuclear test and 'destroy South Korea'
The Guardian, Tuesday February 19, 2013

"As the saying goes, a new-born puppy knows no fear of a tiger. South Korea's erratic behaviour would only herald it's final destruction."

Let's look at what the North Korean ambassador actually said before we go all "North Korea's gonna kill us all!" bullshit again.

First off, I just want to point out straight away that I am against North Korea's ideology of communism and I am well against the use of WMDs in war. What might upset you is that I am pretty pissed off at the shit the UN has been putting on North Korea recently such as their first step into space labelled an illegal act.

"South Korea's erratic behaviour would only herald it's final destruction." Is he really threatening South Korea with destruction? Is it even a threat at all? If anything it's just a reminder to South Korea not to fuck with them and not to declare war or make some other decision that'll get them in very thick quicksand. In the past few days, North Korea has been talking about following up their recent nuclear tests with, you guessed it, MORE nuclear tests, but that's ONLY IF the US takes a "hostile approach" against them, in which every living, breathing creature on earth seems to be doing. Let's look at this realistically - which one of the Koreas are more likely to wage war against each other? The one that seeks ceasefire and reunification in every single aspect known to man, or the American-influenced one that actually does see the other as a threat?

If contemporary history has taught us anything, it's that North Korea don't actually possess the balls to wage war against super powers like the United States and possibly even next door neighbours China. North Korea's game is psychology, not weapons and gun powder. North Korea's card of play is a smart one though. They play the sitting game, otherwise known as the leave-us-the-fuck-alone-America-we're-much-better-off-without-you game, where you constantly taunt the UN with comments, such as the one we've heard just recently, in hopes that the Capitalist and Democratic world will never attempt to wage war against you, and so far it has proved super effective against the UN. North Korea is constantly defending itself, like guarding at every turn in a Mother 3 or Pokemon battle. North Korea can't attack, and so all the nuclear tests, the comments and recent events are all just a ploy to keep others out of North Korea, because everyone should know that America would indefinitely be the one to light a fire under Korea's ass if the Korean War escalates to conflict ever again like it almost did two or three years ago.

Basically, North Korea and South Korea have been so culturally influenced by non-relevant countries like the United States, the former Soviet Union and China that there is no legitimate way that the two countries can peacefully seek each other and live with each other anymore. Like the ending of Mother 3 or the final battle in Return of the Jedi, two relatives are taught to fight with each other, constantly picking at each other like the two noisy guys sitting at the very back of the classroom. South Korea is basically the U.S.' puppet in all this, of course, treating the south like it was their new born son, but really they seriously have nothing to do with any of it other than their participation in the Korean War, a time where the fight between Communism and Capitalism actually did make sense and actually was a legitimate issue, i.e. the Cold War.

Long story short, the overreaction to the ambassador's comment is largely unnecessary, as they are definitely not threatening South Korea of anything. They are just simply saying not to wage war against them. North Korea have been playing this game for a long time, and North Korea will never actually declare war against anyone, because they just want to be left alone to run their own country and regime and seek a peaceful reunion with the south without America and the UN fucking it up like they have done again recently. If the UN were smart, they would either leave North and South Korea alone, OR fucking destroy North Korea with all the firepower they have (not the preferred option though ).

Constantly whining about North Korea's riddles and rhymes and useless missile tests will definitely not resolve the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

To a musician who works hard to "make it big", this line may have sounded offensive. But if you look at it realistically, it's almost impossible to make a proper living out of making good music nowadays (unless you are a manufactured pop star). So, isn't it better to keep your musical pursuits as a beautiful side thing you enjoy doing, and concentrate first on getting a stable job to support yourself and your family? I know this may be a controversial opinion. And I'll probably see a lot of  in the replies. But I seriously want to listen to your arguments.
Climate Change Given Prominence in Obama’s Address
By RICHARD W. STEVENSON and JOHN M. BRODER
WASHINGTON — President Obama made addressing climate change the most prominent policy vow of his second Inaugural Address on Monday, setting in motion what Democrats say will be a deliberately paced but aggressive campaign built around the use of his executive powers to sidestep Congressional opposition.

“We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that failure to do so would betray our children and future generations,” Mr. Obama said, at the start of eight full sentences on the subject, more than he devoted to any other specific area. “Some may still deny the overwhelming judgment of science, but none can avoid the devastating impact of raging fires, and crippling drought, and more powerful storms.”

The central place he gave to the subject seemed to answer the question of whether he considered it a realistic second-term priority. He devoted scant attention to the subject in the campaign and has delivered a mixed message about its importance since the election. Mr. Obama is heading into the effort having extensively studied the lessons from his first term, when he failed to win passage of comprehensive legislation to reduce emissions of the gases that cause global warming. This time, the White House plans to avoid such a fight and instead focus on what it can do administratively to reduce emissions from power plants, increase the efficiency of home appliances and have the federal government itself produce less carbon pollution.

Mr. Obama’s path on global warming is a case study in his evolving sense of the limits of his power and his increased willingness to work around intense conservative opposition rather than seek compromise. It is a far cry from Mr. Obama’s 2008 pledge to heal the planet and a reflection of recalibrated strategy — and more realistic expectations — as he embarks on his second term.

The centerpiece will be action by the Environmental Protection Agency to clamp down further on emissions from coal-burning power plants under regulations still being drafted — and likely to draw legal challenges.

The administration plans to supplement that step by adopting new energy efficiency standards for home appliances and buildings, a seemingly small advance that can have a substantial impact by reducing demand for electricity. Those standards would echo the sharp increase in fuel economy that the administration required from automakers in the first term.

The Pentagon, one of the country’s largest energy users, is also taking strides toward cutting use and converting to renewable fuels.

Mr. Obama’s aides are planning those steps in conjunction with a campaign to build public support and head off political opposition in a way the administration did not the last time around. But the White House has cautioned environmental activists not to expect full-scale engagement while Congress remains occupied by guns, immigration and the budget.

Still, Mr. Obama has signaled that he intends to expand his own role in making a public case for why action is necessary and why, despite the conservative argument that such changes would cost jobs and leave the United States less competitive with rising powers like China, they could have economic benefits by promoting a clean-energy industry. In addition to the prominent mention on Monday, Mr. Obama also used strong language in his speech on election night, referring to “the destructive power of a warming planet.”

Those remarks stood in contrast to Mr. Obama’s comments at his first postelection news conference, when he said he planned to convene “a wide-ranging conversation” about climate change and was vague about action. He is also expected to highlight his plans in his State of the Union address next month and in his budget plan soon afterward.

Beyond new policies, the administration is seeking to capitalize on the surge of natural gas production over the past few years. As a cheaper and cleaner alternative to coal, natural gas gives the administration a chance to argue that coal is less economically attractive, as well as being a greater source of harmful emissions.

After the defeat in 2010 of legislation that would have capped carbon emissions and issued tradable permits for emissions, Mr. Obama turned to regulation and financing for alternative energy. Despite the lack of any comprehensive legislation, emissions have declined roughly 10 percent since he took office, a result both of the economic slowdown and of energy efficiency moves by government and industry.

The administration is already discussing with Congressional Democrats, some of whom are leery of the issue because their states are home to coal businesses, how to head off a Republican counterattack on the new regulations. Democrats are paying particular attention to the likelihood of Republicans employing a little-used procedure to block new regulations with a simple majority vote.

Democrats in the Senate are also girding for a battle when Mr. Obama nominates a new head of the E.P.A. The agency, which has been excoriated by Republicans as a job-killing bureaucracy, would take the lead in setting the new regulations.

The approach is a turnabout from the first term, when Mr. Obama’s guiding principle in trying to pass the cap-and-trade bill was that a negotiated legislative solution was likely to be more politically palatable than regulation by executive fiat.

Now there is a broad expectation that he will follow up his first big use of the E.P.A.’s powers to rein in emissions — proposed rules last year for new power plants — with a plan to crack down on emissions from existing power plants.

According to estimates from the Natural Resources Defense Council, emissions from current coal-fired plants could be reduced by more than 25 percent by 2020, yielding large health and environmental benefits at relatively low cost. Such an approach would allow Mr. Obama to fulfill his 2009 pledge to reduce domestic greenhouse gas emissions by about 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020, the group says.

“There’s a really big opportunity, perhaps bigger than most people realize,” said Dan Lashof, director of the N.R.D.C.’s climate and clean air program.

The regulatory push will be particularly important because Mr. Obama has little prospect of winning as much money for clean energy as he did in his first term, with Republicans now in control of the House.

Despite the renewed attention to climate change following Hurricane Sandy and record-high temperatures in the continental United States last year, there is little sign that the politics of the issue will get any easier for Mr. Obama.

But Anthony Leiserowitz, a specialist on climate change communications at Yale University, said a recent survey found that people across party lines, including 52 percent of Republicans, support taking action to reduce global warming.

“Obama is not running for election again, and in a sense that frees him,” Mr. Leiserowitz said. “There are a lot of calls for him now to hold that national conversation and say to the American people, ‘We’re seeing these impacts, we’re vulnerable, we need to be taking much more significant action to prepare ourselves and reduce our risks in the future.’ ”

I'm pretty excited at this news. Of course only time will tell how it'll turn out, but I'm glad to see, at least nominally, the "won't take no for an answer" side of the second term president. Enough of this compromise nonsense, because in this case at least, that's not gonna work.

More than two dozen people, mostly elementary school children, were shot and killed at a Newtown, Conn., elementary school this morning, federal and state sources tell ABC News.
The massacre involved two gunmen and prompted the town of Newtown to lock down all of its schools and draw SWAT teams to the school, authorities said today.
One shooter is dead and a manhunt is on for a second gunman. Police are searching cars. One shooter was described as a 24-year-old armed with four weapons and wearing a bullet vest, sources told ABC News.
It's unclear how many people have been shot, but 27 people, mostly children are dead, multiple federal and state sources tell ABC News. That number could rise, officials said.
I type this with tears coming down my face. My deepest prayers go out to the children, faculty, parents, and families of all those involved. What kind of sick, disgusting human being kills innocent children at a school? I think it's about time we, as a country, start having some serious talks about fire-arms.

Does a "unique" name affect a person's life?

So I was reading this nicely-written (and hilarious) article - http://www.cracked.com/article/195_7...-up-kids-life/

According to the writer, one of the major things which screw up a kid's present and future life is a "unique" name. I really identified with it. Of course, my life is far away from "screwed up" right now, but there have been instances where I'd been pretty close to such a situation.

Thing is, in my country, the name I have is ridiculously unique, something which probably only a handful of people have in the whole one-billion-strong nation. And I'm not even kidding here. As a kid, I was often bullied due to the very same reason. Adding to that, it always made me nervous around strangers (and pretty girls, ESPECIALLY pretty girls) because it'd take them a huge amount of time to get my name. 9 times out of 10, I'd have to spell it out. It contributed in a major way to my shyness and my introvert nature (Of course that "introvert nature" led me to discover rock music and become a musician, but that's a story for another day).

So, did any of you guys (with "weird" names) have a similar experience, or do you guys think that I'm horribly wrong and one's name has nothing to do with how his life turns out?

This deeply religious man pretended to be gay for year as an experiment and wrote a book about it. It's a pretty interesting story.

could i please! just have your attention, for a few of your short earth minutes ?

We are a group of local musicians who wanted to do our part to help a community fund raising drive in Folkestone.
This incentive is in support of the Winter Shelter for the homeless, we put together the Hope 4 Change Album and its proceeds will be donated directly to the local homeless.
The charity aims to shelter the homeless for the coldest months of the year. From 3rd December this year, seven local churches will each open their doors one night a week, to provide shelter from the cold for any who find themselves homeless.
The winter shelter provide beds, food and hot drinks, positive activities, support in providing long term solutions as well as someone to talk to, using an army of volunteers who give up their time freely. If this didn’t exist we would be reading about homeless people freezing to death on our own streets,
As a community let us show that we take responsibility for what happens here and we are prepared to help and support in any way we can.

100% of your Purchase will be forwarded directly to the Charity so please spend spend spend ... you have to option to donate more than the suggested amount or to buy tracks individually for 49p or the full album for £6 : )
