View Full Version : What's Your School Like?
Alright so what are your guy's schools like?
Mine is alright I guess... The courses are good but god the people in my school are SO stupid!
Ex.
-Last year someone didn't want to take a test so they called the school and called in a bomb threat!
- Someone else last year kept pulling the fire alarm everyday for almost 2 weeks! (IN THE WINTER!!)
- There's like a fight EVERY day for the most stupidest reasons.
- This girl told my friend that she was pregnant when she really wasn't!
and so much more I can't continue. So what's your school like?
edit: oh yeah there are over 1500 students in my school.
and we have one of the top 3 rugby teams

:chemist: For the record, I go to Oak Park High in Winnipeg, MB, Canada.
-Trying to get out after classes: Picture 900 people all heading for the same doors. At the same time. Not gonna happen.
-We've had 4 fire alarms. In the last 4 days. The first one was a real fire, last 3 were total BS. It does kill time nicely though. False alarms are fined at $650 a pop.
-My chem teacher has almost blown the entire school up twice. Picture a weather balloon. Picture it full of hydrogen. Now picture it exploding indoors and taking out ceiling panels. Neat, eh?
-***holes, ***holes and more ***holes. If ***holes could fly, this place'd be busier than Heathrow.
-Every night before Halloween (the 30th), the words "Oak Park High" are spraypainted to read "Toak Park High". It's a tradition, and people make bets on what colour the T will be that year...hehe
- Nearly 2000 students.
- Far better funding for sports than fine arts. (Can you tell that I'm a band and theater geek?)
- Fairly high academic standards. (We have six National Merit Scholars, plus a bunch more Semifinalists and Commended Scholars.)
- The downfall? Most kids are WAY too interested in their cell phones and clothes.
- The bigger downfall? The school itself is practically falling apart. We had a gas leak and four water pipes burst all in one day. The wiring is so bad our computers crash regularly and the electricity has been known to suddenly cut.

Only good thing I heard of my school is that our school had the highest score average in the FCAT Writing test. (I dunno if it's in the U.S or just Florida or what) I think the principle lied. My essay had a little drawing of a guy cleaning #### off a toilet..

My school is rather small compared to some of y'all's, I think. We have maybe 500-600 students, I think. I live in a rural area outside of a small town, so go figure. The students that go there are okay. I don't really have many friends, if you're wondering. We have the normal groups, one of them being the preps, which I don't really like, but whatever. The teachers are alright. No rocket scientists or anything, but some of them know what they're talking about. I actually like my principal; he's on the younger side and pretty cool.
All in all, I suppose I'm...content, if that's the proper word, at my school, which is called Dan River High School. Let's just say I'd rather go there than our cross-county rivals, Tunstall High School :chemist:

My school life was hell. I was picked on almost every day and I didn't even have any classification. I was a shadow that nobody remembers. I had like, maybe one friend at a time and those people I did make friends with don't even talk to me or hang out with me anymore.
Teachers thought I was a lost cause because I took an IQ test in the 6th grade to find out I was a level behind in learning. So I was stuck in modified classes or special education classes. I never asked for help because I had HORRIBLE self esteeme, so I usually failed tests and barely passed.
My biggest accomplishment in high school was not only graduating, since doctors didn't think I would, but also passing an acidemic history course with a mark in the 70's. Something I assumed I could never do and was convinced I was going to fail.
I graduated on June 26, 2000, and I wear my grad ring with pride.

I love my school! It's crazy at times, and some classes are insanely hard, but for the most part it's awesome (not to mention that I'm really glad that my friend from home decided to come here next year. ^_^) It's got a really awesome view of the bay, so there's no complaining.

Oh, and according to US News (http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/college/rankings/brief/natudoc/tier1/t1natudoc_brief.php) it's the 21st best college in the nation, but it's the #1 public university (the 20 before it are all private). Go us! :P

My school sucks. It's 26 years old or something. It's got 1000 and something people (I think) and most of them should die. Thats the main problem at my school... everything thinks they are better then everyone else and they are all ####ed up. The school is like filled with old buildings and it sucks. sucky school site thing... (http://www.dakabinshs.qld.edu.au/)

my school is uniform free! So i've got luck.
But that doesn't mean i like my school. My school is strict Christian, and i'm not, so that's already one thing that annoys me.
And i'm not alowed to dye my hair too. Also, i'm not allowed to wear short skirts, too short t-shirts (i mean by that, a t-shirt by the bellybutton, what actually isn't too short) Oh yeah, and ofcourse NO pants, cause that's from the devil....(for the girls)
Everyday we read 2 times in the bible *choke, choke* and pray a lot in there. :x
But in spite of that, i had a great time there together with my friends!
Well that's my school for so far.

hehe........that sounds just like my school!
oh, maybe it is..... :rasberry: :argh:
my school blows. The school is hella old, my dad graduated from the same school in 1967. As a result of it's oldness, it's falling apart. The air conditioning is broken on hot days, the heat is broken on the cold days. Fortunatley, water main breaks have resulted in a few days off school for us, so that's one thing I like about it.
The teachers aren't too bad, except for a few. My physics teacher is a useless pig, he doesn't teach a thing in class, refuses to help you with the work, then gives you a test over it. And one of the principals can be compared to a nazi officer. She'll yell you if she hears you say "hell." She gets pissed off if you leave a crumb of food on the floor after lunch. She'll confinscate CD players from kids who are listening to them during lunch or leaving school going out to the bus. The only good thing is she's real tough with sophomores who drive to school because sophys arent allowed to.
THen the school is always complaining how they're out of money. They just upgraded 2 computer labs to brand new eMacs, about 60 computers total at around $800 a piece, you do the math. Last year we had a brand new re-designed parking lot which cost a couple million dollars. Its purpose was to help ease traffic after school. But, it only made it worse. Yet when teachers need updated text books, there's no money.
There are fights pretty much every day. And it isn't uncommon to have at least five fights in a day. We have multiple-fight days at least once every 2 weeks. But I cant complain, they're fun to watch :D
As far as students go, it's like any other high school, you have all the seperate groups. Jocks, goths, skaters, ect. Then you have the preps who think you're some suicidal maniac if you like rock music (When I'm in the parking lot after school with the windows open and Korn or Slipknot blasting, you should see the looks I get ) and the wiggers who try so hard to be black yet obviously aren't.
But, I only have 11 days left of school left, then I graduate, so I'm almost done with hell :D

- My school was one of the first built in Montreal
- The nearest commerce is ten minutes in bus from the school. We're in the middle of nowhere
- It's considered as being Montreal's third best school.... from the bottom
- 38% of graduating students fail french
- People live as if other didn't exist: For Preps, Punks are an african tribe and for Skaters, Goths are the people who used to live in Atlantis.
BUT
- We don't have anything in link with religion (except courses for whoever wants to take them)
- It's easy to lie to the 'cafeteria bouncers' so we can eat outside the said cafeteria. hehe :shifty:
EDIT: I completely forgot to say that my school is named : École Secondaire de La Pointe-aux-Trembles or simply Polypat
Well my school is OKAY but i still hate school. There are good teachers, but most are mean, ignorant, old people. We are allowed to have CD players and Cell phones and stuff like that only if its not during a class discussion or something. Most of the kids who go to my school are "african american" most of the kids that hang out with are white. The thing that sucks the most is that we have dress code, we have to wear collard shirts, and we cant wear jeans. There arent alot of fights, like once a week theres one and theres cops walkin around in the halls so if you fight you get arrested.

My highschool is alright. Teachers are all right...but...we have no money, so teachers are on work to rule and will only work their technical hours which is a ####### pain in the ass!
Anyway...some classes are boring and some are weird, but it's generally alright. Wish I was back at da Middle Schhol though...
The school is old but it's ok...
More about my school... yeah. It sucks. We have to wear a crappy uniform. On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday we have to wear a sports uniform (some chicks that made something. they are in the sports uniform. (http://www.dakabinshs.qld.edu.au/Highlights/2003/quilt_images.htm)) and on Wendesday we have to wear a formal uniform (guys and girls in their formal uniforms (http://www.dakabinshs.qld.edu.au/Highlights/2004/2004leaders.jpg). Those people are the school leader dudes). Don't the uniforms suck?
A good thing about my school is that we have less time at school then most around here. On all days except Thursdays we have 6 hours and 25 minutes at school. Thursdays we have 2 hours and 20 minutes. It's awesome.

We have to tuck in our shirts. Disgusting! Our principle last year sexually assaulted one of my teachers. The one we have this year is Mrs. Curly. She's too fat to sexually assault anyone, that's probably why they hired her. Yeah she's a b*tch. Everyday on the morning announcments she gives us a "Principle Goal For the Day" and we supposedly have to follow it.
Ex: "A smile can acomplish anyones day. Smile at someone you don't normally smile at. Believe me, you'll make that person feel like the most special person on earth. Accomplish thier day for me and smile as bright as you can children. Do it for the school!"
Um.. how bout no? I laugh everytime I see her do her announcments. It sounds like preschool all over again. For gods sakes, the only ones that follow her routines for the day are the 6th graders. It's absolutley pathetic that she makes drag along with her stupid routines everyday. And for lunch if you don't have any money you're not allowed to have any food at all.
My school sucks. :wth:

Our school is pretty cool.
Like, they paid for a $120 trip..well, we had to pay $5 of it.
And they can't enforce anything like uniforms, working...rules...you know, being a public school.
But our uniforms rawk :rawk:
We learn heaps of cool sh*t and I can't complain too much.
But the teachers suck.
And they're all on drugs, or maybe thats passive smoking from all the year 7's... :wth:

My school...is an elemantary school. That's right people, Grade 7 and still in an elementary school. Did I fail? No. The thing is, I should be at BMHS but there was a disease going around and the school is like 500 years old and falling apart.
Sooo...
All the students in the school at the time had to move into portible classes where they would be taught, though some classes still taught in the main building. I was in Grade 6 then. Except now they're planning to build a new school which won't be done until I'm in either Grade 9 or 10. Meh. So this year I'm forced to stay in a portible at the elementary sh*thole I'm at now. It sucks. Even though our teacher rocks the house, every other teacher SUCKS. Especially our French teacher Ms. Clarke. She is EVIL. Our principal is too old to know anything anyways. And we don't learn anything. The [17] boys in my class are a bunch of immature idiots and I hate them. Our class has 23 people in it. Our school has around 315 people in them and is too small to hold that much. It was [b]way too small. I cannot wait until next year, that is going to make my life...even if I'm going to still be in a portible. But I'm going to be in a portible at BMHS. I'll do anything to get away from all the annoying under-educated teachers and students here. Except for my homies, of course.
There's my story.

My school is an all-girls private school in England. It's not really high-class as it sounds but I guess the teaching is a bit better. The school is really small, I think there are only about 200-300 students and two dozen teachers. That means the classes are small too; the smallest class we have is 19 and the biggest is about 25. The teachers are okay, but some of them are sh*t lazy and rely on US to teach ourselves while they put their feet up and have a coffee break. Our principal is this woman in her 50s. She does her job well, but can be a bit of a b*tch and a snob. One last thing: we don't have uniforms so people can wear just about anything they want but the younger girls have to wear skirts. :wth:

My parents mostly teach me, specifically my Mom. I do take outside classes (art & music, as well as whatever else I happen to stumble a pon).
As for the when does it end thing, well we have no set timeframe. I do schoolwork whenever it's convienent for everyone. Usually that ends up being mid afternoon, since I'm out at the barn in the morning. I do a lot less schoolwork then I would if I were in school as well--it takes a lot less time when it's one-on-one.
Edit:
Sorry, forgot one...
The diploma, I believe, I could get. My friend, who's 16 and also homeschooled, aced his GED and they sent him a diploma totally out of the blue. Most colleges don't require diplomas from homeschoolers.

HOMESCHOOLED! :)
what's it like being homeschooled?
i was going to ask the same thing ^_^
Hmmm well how do you mean? I've never actually been to school, so I can't really directly compare. That means you gotta ask more specific questions :)
so your parents just like teach you? or you have teachers that come to your house? do you get breaks? does school end at the same time as everyone? do you get a dipolma? tee hee sorry i don't know anyone who's homeschooled so i'm curious ^_^

What school here has the most kids going to it ? Mine has 1800.
My school is pretty small compared to others around here. We have just a basic main office and classrooms. Basically, my school is a boring place...except for the fact that it's sort of in a "gettohish" area. :chemist: All the kids are either rap junkees or rock addicts, and the rest are "Linkin Parkers" :rawk: God, I'm using the rawk smiley too much... :wth:
man, reading some of your schools makes me think mines not that bad.
i go to Durango HS (http://www.greatschools.net/modperl/browse_school/nv/136/) in las vegas, nv. i remember the second day of school there was already a fight. theres quite a few prep, goth, and all the rest of the cliques there. i think there are lik 2,500 kids.
there are some stupid people too, sometimes i see people who get arrested and get caught smoking in the hallway. but then my middle school had someone commit suicide in the bathroom and one of my friends who was in my history class drowned in a hot tub after getting stoned and passing out.
but i am going to this new school they just built but they said they might have a strict dress code like polo shirts and khaki pants. if they do then i will have to go on strike.

6 or 7 people in my class earlier last month got caught with Marijuana [My cousin was selling it... :wth:] and you know what their punishment was? A week in school suspension. And they had to do a project on MJ. What kind of punishment is that? Marijuana is illegal. They should have had to do community service or something. My school is run by idiots.

my school has about 650 students, in a shape of a box but the walls arent pernament...folding walls!! the band room is way too small! day 6 last period...grade 8 mega band....100 students in a small room ... luckily i have my little corner by the amplifier (i play bass guitar) .. our school isnt too bad, i dont hear of many problems happening in our school...a fight once a month or so....
id rate my school 7.5/10.

My high school has about 900 kids. Everyone is segregated. You've got your preppies, jocks, stoners (stone jockies, as Will likes to refer to them as) whores, drama freaks, musicians, nerds, your "B" class kids and a goth or two. No punks, you've got posers, the ones that listen to No Use for a Name and skate. But it's more of a look than the lifestyle. I associate well with everyone, but my usual group of friends are Neil's. The hard-core computer junkies  They're so entertaining, I wouldn't have it any other way. :D
I've got to say Linkin Park is pretty popular at our school. We were called to an assembly in the gym one afternoon. It was for a presentation on a big screen about *ponders* ... something or other. lol. I can't remember back to December. Anywho, they started up the vid with SIB in the background and the crowd went nuts. Neil looked so proud beside me. :P

My school has about 900 people in it. Its a fairly normal school. There are your country people (like me lol), preps, nerds, jocks, goths, etc. But mainly people aren't too segregated or really extreme with their image. Thank god there aren't many wiggers, I can't stand them! Unfortunately there is a LARGE 'dirt' population! :chemist:
The teachers are good for the most part, but we have a crazy math teacher who has seizures and got me and a friend in trouble for pulling on locks (to see if they would open), even though we found one open before and didn't do anything to it.....But most teachers are cool!
We have had at least one student death each year. In gr. 9 there was one student who had an overdose of ectasy, the next year one died in a car crash (that I saw from my bus as I went to school), and this year a guy I knew committed suicide.
No uniforms, no religon, pretty clean....other than the 40 min. bus ride I don't mind it!

My school sucks completely. Teachers always go on about how our uniforms must look perfect (ties worn so they show our crest, top button on shirt done up, shirt tucked in) otherwise we will get a detention or something sutpid like that. All the teachers are miserable and bore me half to death. We don't really have the students divided into groups. Yes there are different people eg, Grebo, Goth, Chav, Boff but they don't all just hang out in little groups. Only chavs and boffs do really. Chavs like to walk around taking the mick out of everyone but you struggle to hear what they are saying but it's usualy something like 'I'll fokin batter you!' cuz they are really sad and think they are hard. The building is old and like falling apart. They are always going on and on about not having any money to buy stuff like glue yet a while back every teacher got a lap top. Yes, definitely no money atal
I am thankful that my school is not religious (no offence to any religious people on the forums) cuz my primary school was religious and i hated it. I'm not anti religious but i hated having religion forced down my throat.
The only good thing about my school is that i see my friends there every day and we get through the boring days together. All in all my school sucks but hey. Only a few more years and i'll leave it behind.

It sucks total arse, man. We just got a new school because of funding. And it.... looks.... like.... a .... prison. For real. If you didnt know that there was a school there, you'd think they help prisoners there dude.
- We had a fire in the elevator used for handicaps, which I have no clue how it started or who started it. I swear.....
- Our stupid principle was high one day and thought someone called in a bomb threat so she evacuated the entire school during the FCat (really important test in Florida)
- Our principle was also in a porno magazine (and she's arse ugly)

I study in a private school so it's better I guess. It's also a Catholic school. The discipline is fair enough. But the academic or subjects is a bit complicated if you really don't take your studies seriously. I'm on vacation right now 'till June. There are a lot of activities in it, Sports, Academics and stuff. I'm in Varsity Basketball right now. The teachers are not that strict except if it's really needed. The people are kind because the rules are a bit high. But on deportment, you have to be a good role-model but I think it's fair enough.
