mp3/cd combinations are a waste of money. my friend has one and is replacing the batteries twice a week. it's not worth it. get them separate.

personally, i'd get a walkman-type cd player. they're simple. but, whatever you do: stay away from those damn hit-clips. what they don't tell you is that the "songs" are only 30 to 60 second clips.

edit:
figured i'd add before someone said this:

i believe my friend has a gpx — which is a great company, best i've found — and he has the top-of-the-line gpx mp3/cd player combo. the thing is, ANY mp3/cd player combo eats batteries like there's no tomorrow.

 I think they'd do alot better if they had the full songs on there, and different bands/singer. Besides, anything along the lines with Britney Spears, etc. :D

that's what rechargable batteries and adapters are for, lmao

for $30 extra, get a charger and 4AA rechargables and you'll never be without energy again, just charge 2 while you use the other 2.

I just got a Sony minidisc player and love it. At the lowest sound quality, you can fit about 5 hours on one minidisc, but the sound quality is still great. And a 10 pack of minidiscs costs like $15 so they're very cheap.

expensive yes, about $400, but it's well worth it. it took me a big while to figure it out. and its awesome and the transfering is FAST!
some of them start @ $150 but you are paying for the quality you know. the more $$ the better
You can read more about the Sony MD players here... (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=paZU_NPTpM1Ux-4kFMde95ze8aA6bWBJPsI=?CatalogCategoryID=&ProductID=I2cKC0.NaqoAAADyRR9bIwja&Dept=pa) <--click.

MD?

Personally, a plain old MP3 player, nothing special. Most can hold 64mb of songs, but you can get a memory card thing that allows up to 190mb(thats how mine is). They're easy to use, you can put any song in .mp3 format on it, they dont skip, they're small(my friends is about the size of a quarter, no lie). And you can get some of the cheaper ones for around 80-100$, but the more expensive ones are around 160$.

you need a burner for an mp3/cd player.

you burn the mp3s onto the cd and that's how they get played, you can fit upto 150 songs on one 800meg cd-rw (nearly 10-12 full albums!). using the cd-rw, you don't need to keep burning cd's over and over, you can just delete and add any time you want.

technically, that's not true. it depends on the size of the file. if you have really high quality mp3s (192kbps +) then the file size is going to be at least 5mb for each mp3, and that's just one mp3. i burned an mp3 cd once that i could only fit 50 mp3s on... but, i go for quality, not quantity, just like linkin park.

md is minidisc.

and, 64 to 190mb? haha, that wouldn't even fit hybrid theory or reanimation at 192kbps for me.

Yea it does, i've 'ripped'(i guess thats what it would be called) Reanimation straight onto my comp and it fit the whole thing except the phone calls with 64 mb.

I got the cheaper $130. Same features as the more expensive one, but no car kit or docking station, and it looks different
