WHY? What do the screams mean?

Kæton

The screams mean he's not singing and he's not talking.

What's so hard to understand about that? The screaming is part of their music. Anger, energy, etc.

Get with it, man :wth:.

If you listen to the songs, they are words. You just need to have an ear for it. In 'A Place For My Head' he screams "You try to take the best of me, go away!" multiple times. In "By Myself" he screams "Myself". In "Don't Stay" he screams "Stay away from me!".

All his screams, to me, have sense. I can pick out almost everything he screams.

They are words.
The Chester's parts of the songs are what the song can't tell to the people; what is untellable - the emotions
The Mike's parts of the songs are what the song can tell to the people with a simple words.

See that
Mike: It’s like a face that I hold Chester: INSIDE
Mike: A face that awakes when I close my Chester: EYES
Mike: A face watches every time I Chester: LIE

I think that Mike doesn't scream becouse he doesn't talk about hisself
And Chester screams becouse he talks about hisself; about his emotions; about his most personal things.

Willstar
02-16-2004, 07:32 PM
What in the hell are you talking about?

He's screaming because it adds depth to the song. That's it. It has nothing to do with his feelings or emotions at all.

Kæton

Mike doesn't scream because he doesn't have the same voice capacity as Chester does.

Are you saying Mike puts no emotional depth into his lyrics...? Harsh :wth:...

I disagree. I think that its a little of both. I think that Chester had some of these emotions that he felt he could let out easily enough because obviously he can scream well. But it also does add depth to it.

Sry for the double post, can't find a way to edit and insert a quote :)

What are Chester Eyes and Chester Inside and Chester Lies? :P

Debus

Ummm he screams cuz he can and it sounds good. Yes maybe it might be a form of relieveing anger but still it is just him screaming. and as Keaton said Mike doesn't scream because he can't do it as well as Chester. Chester has the vocals for it. I still don't really get your point though......

Snoo
02-16-2004, 11:40 PM
Well, Chester does have some baggage...I don't mean to bring up any part of his personal life since that would be breaking the sacred law( :P ), but he did have his traumatic moments as a kid. Although you'd think making millions and having a family might trump that.

It could go either way for me. I'm really not going to say anything more since I don't actually know.

Those are the words from Mike's part in Papercut. Chester always screams a lot of Mike's words during concerts. I think it makes the song better live that way actually.

OK, what would be cooler?

If Chester whispers EYES or that he screams EYES.

Mike doesnt let Chester do his thing because of his emotions. In the studio version of Papercut you dont hear Chester screaming his guts out. Its just makes the song really good live

In some situations there is no 'why'. It just happens and you must get over it.

And yes, Mr Hahn rocks!

I dont understand why some people think Chester screams because of his childhood. If you saw a person screaming out of nowhere and they said "Oh, bad childhood, ya kno." you would think they're crazy. Chester does it because he is an entertainer, and he is merely entertaining by making GREAT music.

LornVourkolakas
03-01-2004, 02:51 AM
I scream when I'm mad. But than again, I always hit my head against the wall when I'm mad... *Hits head against wall*

Chester probably screams on live shows cause he gets into it. Or perhaps he screams to get other people into it. Whichever. I don't really care. Either way, I'm listening to the music and liking it.

I think the screaming of chester is important piece of there music but it is also awesome, but most of the time if he screams you can hear he say something like shut up, confusing ect....It's like a part of him..
And mike doesn't scream that loud, ches has something special, he can sing soft and it sounds also f*cking great like My December, Wonderful but he can also scream and still it sounds very good like Crawling..

I hope you understand what I mean because it's dificult to explain..

WHY? What do the screams mean?
1. Because he's in a Rock/Hip-hop band
2. To show the message of the song
3. To give more energy especially to the fans.
4. (I've seen this in a MTV Special) His screams also cames from his experiences especially during his childhood.
5. LP ROCKS!!!! :chaz: :mike: (w00t)

On Live In Texas, I think Chester's best screaming work is done... In a Place For My Head.

It's simply fantastic and you can just absorb the energy and passion from the TV!

Chester can just nail those notes while screaming, and it's unique nature is part of the reason I love this band!

I like the answer Re: chesters screams: "Because he can". Like asking why a dog can lick itself... i guess!
