View Full Version : Should Mike make a solo album of him singing?

Would anyone else like this? He has a nice voice. It would be cool if he did a solo album filled with nice piano ballads and stuff :P

no. he's become great at singing but I think a whole album like that wouldn't work to well.

If it was a whole album of just instrumentals and a few songs of him singing, I could definitely deal with that. He makes some amazing songs! If they'd be anything like breaking the habit demo, or LTGYA, I'm all for it :D

No, him singing with Lp is fine

Stuff like this doesn't need to happen because as I've posted somewhere before, their LPU albums defeat any need for EPs or anything of the sort.

Another Fort Minor album would be perfect... Singing... no :(

I would rather see the members of Linkin Park focus on Linkin Park.

If he wants to.

But his voice is maybe a little too monotomous for keeping a full record exciting (for my tastes, at least).

Uhhhh.... no.

He doesn't have a "lead-singer" type of voice.

Another Fort Minor album would be nice, though :D

Not now. He's still not a good enough singer and won't be able to carry a whole album yet. Perhaps a few years down the road.

Would be fun. I can't really imagine alot of people buying it tho, more like 15% of the people who listens to Linkin Park.

His voice is pretty good. Victimized, No Roads Left, and lets not forget Barack Your World.

I've heard much worse and boring singers make albums. So Why not really.

I think his voice is better suited to use as sort of a flavoring for songs. I can't see just his singing being the main ingredient I guess. No roads left was a fluke in my opinion. I don't think he could pull off something like that again without a hell of a lot more practice. Like others above me have said I'd rather just have another fort minor album.

I'd jizz in my pants if Mike did a solo record with undiluted, straight-up folk music that would make me cry my eyes out. Although it would probably not be well-received. But regardless, it would never happen... And if Mike/LP did exactly what I wanted him/them to do, it would be boring. I can still dream though :D

Well, I'll be damned...I did some research and it turns out that's Mike and Mark Wakefield. It does sound like Mike, but I was in a denial that Mike would make such a random song with Mark...

Back in 2008 or 2009 I think. I'm sure it was between MTM and ATS

Kinda off topic, but it's amazing how Mike's guitar solo on that song blows anything Brad's ever done out of the water.

I just listened to some tracks, he's not half as good as Chester.

It makes me laugh when I hear that he struggled to get in the band, because he's just so damn good, and I don't see why they haven't jumped in front of him and kissed his ass when he auditioned for the singer :)

I think he was instantly favored and it seems they thought it was a little too good to be true or something and didn't want to make quick rash decisions, so they auditioned a couple others and were like, "What are we doing?"

I think I heard that when Chester auditioned some other vocalist basically walked out saying, "You guys are crazy if you don't pick him."

Yes, I fully support your opinion. Mike's voice is in Living Things better than in the other album but still not so good as compared to Chester.

Roads Untraveled would be the perfect example. You can see how much better Chester's verse is...

I can't think of a solo album by Mike where he sings all the vocals, I mean, when you hear Mike singing in Linkin Park, his verses are 95% the quieter ones (IB, BITS, Blackout HHH, the LT songs, etc.), and I'm not sure if he can pull a wide enough range of vocals to sustain an album. There is No Roads Left though, but it's more of an exception.

He's an awesome musician, but he's not ready for that... Yet.

a) IB is short for what?

b) He's struggling in No Roads Left. It's still an awesome song.

Thanks, couldn't remember which song was it...

Someone removed it, so I deleted it completely, but there are even bigger signatures than mine which make a problem when I'm on mobile...

When Mike sings, he has a sincereness to his voice. I would rather see that focused into more Linkin Park songs rather than another side project.

His passion first is Linkin Park. I would say his second passion and his very first in the beginning is hip-hop/rap. So I couldnt see him putting an honest effort into a project like that. It would be interesting though.

Although I love Mike singing, I donīt think there is a need of a solo project, he just should sing more with LP as he does in Living Things. Besides, like some others in here, I donīt think he would be interested in such a project. I couldnīt compare Mike and Chester singing, because I love them both singing, but I guess that Chester has a wider spectre of using his voice as he is much more experienced in that.
