View Full Version : A trivial mistake I noticed on the back of the Living Things CD case

I picked up the album earlier today, and when looking at the back of the CD case, I noticed that each song had a geometric shape above it whose amount of dots correlated with the number of the song (Castle Of Glass had a geometric shape with 6 dots above it since it's the sixth song, etc.).

Now, compulsively, I looked at each shape, counting their dots to make sure they were all correct. Things seemed fine until I got to Powerless, whose shape was made up of 13 dots instead of 12. As you all know, there are only 12 tracks on the album, so technically, this is something of a mistake.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else noticed this trivial little mistake (Please don't post a reply akin to "Uh WTF who cares?" because a mistake's a mistake and I was simply wondering if anyone else had noticed it).

Alright, I'll play along. Bruiser was originally supposed to be the middle of some mini-suite that included Tinfoil and Powerless. The band then decided it didn't work and cut it.

If this is true, then the mistake makes sense, though now they'll be reminded every day of Bruiser-less when they look at the back of their album case.

...Or, you know, they seriously don't give a crap about the mistake, along with most every other fan of the band.

It was well spotted!! When I checked I thought this too, that it's prob cause a track got cut near the end and this was overlooked!

Is it possible that there's a hidden track? Sometimes they like to do a play on stuff, like Announcement Service Public was obviously backwards so interested fans could reverse the track, maybe it's hint that there's a hidden 13th track. It's a long shot and a real stretch but still possible.

There is no hidden track.

This isn't a trippy Tool 10'000 Days scenario where if you layered two tracks on top of each other it made a new track.

You guys didn't hear the 13th track? Listen closely at the end of Powerless there is a few seconds of silence.

Pfft, you guys are hardcore fans but couldn't find the silence which is Track 13.

I'm pretty sure the album artwork/back cover and all that is drafted/printed long after an official track list is handed over to the label/iTunes/stores/etc.

The idea that a track was cut simply cannot be. Someone just goofed when making the geometric shape on POWERLESS.

Wait, what's Bruiser? Am I missing something here? What's going on?

I would never see it, but you're right. There're 13 dots instead of 12.
