Now that the mastermind of Apple has sadly passed, how do you predict it will effect the company? Will we continue to see innovation? Will this slow down Apple's production. Will stocks drop?

Maybe, probably not, yes

It will be difficult to tell. Dereks brother, Ed, I think his name is, said that Jobs was most likely already working a few years ahead, and so once those devices are passed is when we'll really find out how well Apple has prepared.

I read somewhere that Apple has always been 10 years ahead in technology and just released it slowly. I hope to god someone can take the plate.

If that is the case, they've got 10 years to get ready.

they'll be alright. They'll follow through on steve's ideas and somebody will take his place. They will probably never live up to what he was but I think it shouldn't be to hard for someone to pick up where he left off

Jobs knew he was going to die for several years. I guarantee you that he not only designed several technologically advanced products yet to be seen, but likely spent a long time looking for the proper replacement. I have all the belief in the world that Apple will survive past Jobs. It may never be the same company, or have the same "feel", but I guarantee you that Jobs left a great amount of technology behind for Apple to use going into the future.

Its reassuring to hear things like this. What he did influenced the world and our culture. To see that as a dead dream, it just seems like a tragedy. I mean, his death was a tragedy as well, of course. But I digress....

With all due respect, Jobs was more of a marketing and branding genius than an innovator in the industry of technology (at least in the last 10 years). Most of the things Apple is famous for today have already been on the market, he just made them look cool and found a way to sell them.

I mean take a look at it:

iPod - an mp3 player, Apple didn't think of it first.
iPhone - a touchscreen smartphone, Apple didn't think of it first.
iPad - a tablet computer, Apple didn't think of it first.

Sure, Apple fans argue that he took it to the next level, but I don't see it that way. iPhone's not better than what HTC has to offer, Sony tablets are excellent, and shitty music is still shitty music, whether I listen to it on iPod or any other mp3 player.

Of course, branding and marketing mean a world in today's industry, so although I don't think Apple is gonna fall back now technology-wise, things are definitely gonna be different when it comes to the, as you said it, "feel" of those products. I bet the new iPhones are gonna have a lot of shitty features now that Steve Jobs is gone.

Yeah, but no one really claims that Apple actually invented those things unless they're genuinely misinformed. The bolded is what he gets credited for doing, and he deserves it imo. Henry Ford didn't actually invent the car but he got them out there and gave that industry a kick up the arse, and that's basically what Steve Jobs did here.

Yeah, well that's the thing, a lot of people now say that we wouldn't have so much stuff today if it hadn't been for Jobs. Sure, the guy was a visionary, but I think people confuse him for Gates.

I have to disagree. Look at the software used to make music videos, movies, and music, etc..

Apple revolutionized the entertainment industry. As far as Ipods, Ipads, and Iphones..... sure he didn't invent them but the applications and design implemented by the company were soon followed by other companys imitating the same product.

Ok, first, I don't think Apple software is any better than similar software from other companies.

And second, Steve Jobs does not equal Apple. Sure, someone in Apple came up with the software, but it wasn't Steve Jobs himself, and that's why Apple is not suddenly gonna be left in ruins.

And the thing about them being 10 years ahead in technology.. Do you honestly believe that? Come on, you obviously loved the guy, but that's bullshit and you know it.

As far as the ten year thing, its something I read. I'm not agreeing with that exact amount of time but I do know they release the technology slowly. I do appreciate PC'S as well. Im not trying to argue who's better, just pointing out what the company has done. :)

They didn't invent it, they reinvented it.

I agree. Lots of people are getting reeeeeeeeeally carried away with this whole Steve Jobs death thing, like "omg what's gonna happen to Apple now?!". Apple will keep innovating and people are gonna keep buying their products.

Also, from what I know, the tech industry in general is always on the move. They are already working on the technology we'll be using 8/10 years from now.

No. I honestly didn't think they reinvented the smartphone.

First of all, the "before iPad" tablets are from the early to mid 2000s before the technology was even there to have a tablet as thin as the iPad. Second of all, Those "before iPad" tablets are ruggedized designs for applications where you would not want a fragile iPad made from glass. Those tablets can take a beating that the iPad can't.

Apple can imitate just as well as the rest of them.

Notification system? Android had it first
Twitter integration? Android had it first
MMS? Everyone else had it first
Multitasking? webOS had it first
Over the air syncing? Android had it first
iMessage? Blackberry had it first
Speech recognition? Android had it first

People give Apple way too much credit for innovating. iOS 5 is full of features that every other mobile OS already had. And Apple didn't even try to hide it - the iOS notification system is identical to Android's. And Apple has the audacity to sue other companies for patent infringement. The only thing Steve Jobs and the rest of them have done over the past couple years is turn me from an Apple fanboy to someone who will never buy another Apple product again.

I don't really know how to reply to that. You seem to know a lot more about this stuff than me.

this is just an opinion but i think apple should make a dramatic change in the iPhone because they are basically the same with little enhancements they should really make a big change to it................ this is just a opinion

whether their stocks will go down, i think apple is a big trend.... if it will go down probably it would be a slow process
