View Full Version : Song of the Album :: Election - The Rising Tied
Hey guys, to keep up with the tradition of voting for the best song off of the album, I am taking over Hawk's job to see what the best song off of The Rising Tied is, based off of votes by YOU! Only, I'm going to set up a poll, instead of hand counting the votes, since I have a short attention span, and I would rather postwhore than have to look through each page to count the votes :awesome:!! I will keep the poll active till . . . let's see . . . 10/21/2010 seems like a fair date. I will not include the extra tracks, because of the poll limit, so I will set up another poll here (http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32333) for the b-sides/demos/etc. So get voting!

Gotta say High Road. First song I fell in love with when I first heard the album. Still my favorite to this day.

Slip out the back before you knew I was there.
It was between Slip Out The Back and Where'd You Go for me.
The latter has my vote! Personal appeal

Poor cigarettes.
I still like it, but doesn't it have a message that says "Who care's about health cigarettes are awesome?" No thanks Mike.
Does Mike even smoke? I've never seen him smoke...or I'm just blind.

I'm not sure but metaphorically the song is awesome, the beat is sick, and the choir is really dark and sad. I loved it but my vote went to SOTB.

Right Now, the chorus is great.

That song isn't about that . . .
Cigarettes is a song that has to do with the lies that a lot of rappers put out, to make them look better. Like with a lot of cigarette companies. A lot of people listen to the garbage as if they were addicted to it, kind of like people who smoke, who don't stop because of their addiction.

Yeah I wasn't sure what the message was. I was more asking then stating . Your interpretation sounds great! I never really dissected the song all that much so when I just heard the chorus I thought it was Mike defending him smoking haha. But it always confused me because I've never seen him smoke

I felt the message was rather clear to me after a few listens actually.

Well I voted for Red To Black awhile ago. And 2 other people said Red To Black. Yet there are only 2 votes lol. Come on, people. Learn how to use polls. Not gonna matter anyways I guess.

Yeah go SOTB! Anyway the introduction of my job interview was crazy. They couldn't remember the name and I was like are you serious right now? They looked petrified and I didn't get the job. I became homeless and wondered what it was like to feel like home. My friends asked "where'd you go", but I couldn't hear them because I was in the stereo department. I wish I was back home, damn I need a cigarette. Believe me, it feels like the world is trying to get me gone, but I could care less. I'm taking the high road with Kenji and changing my state of mind from red to black. The battle was hard but all I had to do was slip out the back to be somebody. There they go looking for me again, to bad they have to learn that's the hard way.
