LOST MYSELF

I'm sorry if this should go in another part of the forum, or maybe in the advice thread and if so please move it there.

I've posted this to several forums already and considering I need all the help and advise I can get, I'm going to post it here to.


I live in USA and recently, as I've moved to another location I've seemed to misplace my wallet or it could have possibly been stolen. It has my birth certificate, my state I.D and my social security card in it. I've never had a drivers license nor a credit card though.

The thing is I have no idea how to re-obtain or get copies of these items, especially as right now I'm unemployed and can not pay for it. But more pressing than that is actually going through procedures to acquire these lost items.

While doing some research online I found out to get a new Social Security card I need to go to fill out a form at the Social Security Administration's official website, I then have to take it to the nearest Social Security Office.

That's all well in good but from what I understand, I need to have a Proof of Citizenship, which would be my State I.D. and my Birth Certificate. Things I do not have because they've either been stolen or lost.

And I think I need my SSC to get a Birth Certificate, also to complicate the matter even further I do not live in the same state I was born in and if I need to acquire it from the hospital that I was born in it's an absolute impossibility as that hospital has closed a long while ago.

Basically I see myself in a deadly circle, I can't get my S.S.C without my I.D or B.C and I can't get my B.C without my S.S.C or I.D and I can't get my B.C without my I.D or S.S.C. It appears I'm stuck without an identity for right now. I do know my S.S.C number, but I highly doubt they'll replace it with just that info as anyone can give someone a number.

I can't get a job to pay for any of these things either, because I need them all in order to get a job. This is really stressing me out especially with all the recent identity theft going around and I don't see any way out of it.

If someone could please help me I'd really appreciate it.

Go to your local DMV or social security office and ask them. I'm sure they have procedures for this in place because I doubt you're the only one in this situation.

For your birth certificate it will be on file with the county you were born in, there should be a department of vital records, that has birth and death certificates. I didn't need an ID when I got a copy of my son's birth certificate, but that could vary by state or even by county.
