If your area has been hit hard by the economy, is it starting to get better, worse or staying just about the same? Have you been personally affected by this? Discuss.
This year is going to be over before you know it and I have only seen things getting worse, not better, in my area. It's impossible to land a job. All I have done this year is check for jobs, apply for jobs, get interviews (if I'm lucky), and end up competing with my whole state for some crappy part-time, low wage jobs because "that's all that's available this year". The jobs always go to someone else, no matter how much I nailed the interviews. Story of my life this year.
I never look at my bank account and my bank statements because it's too painful to see. I always have a ball park figure in my head what I have. It's nowhere near what I should have. I did pick up a secondary source of income (playing blackjack), which has now become primary, and I'm doing extremely well with that and keeping my winnings separate from my bank account, but I want to make money the normal way, by having a stable job. I can't put "gambler" on my resume, lol. But yet it seems like nothing will be stable for a long time and that worries me quite a bit. If I didn't live 10 minutes away from a casino, I would be in a lot of trouble.
How is everyone here handling the economy and getting by?
