This guy lived right down the street from us. He used to invite us over for parties at the grill, and even had us in his house.
Makes you really question if your neighborhood is safe.

This too. You just heard about the cities I mentioned more often. And I'm sort of lucky, I live in Bethlehem which is right in the middle of all of those cities but somehow isn't that affected.

I live right inbetween Wilkes-Barre and Scranton. Basically our towns are the midpoint between New York City and Philly so allllll the drug dealers come here. There's always a gang shooting or drug bust or something like that going on here.

The thing is, he had a big mention in our paper because of the fact it was such a shock, and also due to how well he was known around here. He was a well known guy at the local antique auctions, and he was a veteran of the business for a good 10 years.
Everyone at the local town auction yesterday was horrified by it. They had bought stuff from this guy, helped him out with auctions and even generally just talked to him as a friend/did business with him.
When it came out he was a pedophile everyone just couldn't wrap their heads around it. This was a guy who made fun of homosexuals (in a lighthearted way), seemed to probably be a closest racist and a type of person who would likely shoot a pedophile if they ever entered his home. Instead he actually WAS one.
He better hope he doesn't come back here. My local area has a lot of what people would classify as "rednecks" and rednecks do not take well to pedophiles. They'd likely tar and feather his ass.

He most likely won't fare well in prison, people that harm children are the bottom of the totem pole among inmates. He probably will be someone's play thing sooner than he can snap his fingers.

I'd be surprised if he made it out of prison alive once his fellow inmates find out what he did. People in prions can be some of the most vicious, cold blooded killers on the planet but they don't take too kindly to anyone who would do that to a child.
Even if the inmates don't kill him, he's probably facing a long enough sentence that he'll be coming out of prison in a body bag.

That's quite ridiculous, you can't seperate the abnormal from the normal by them seeming to be normal...
I'd say that's the main issue with prevention.
If one sends the obvious psycho signals such as a limp, many pets, closed shades during the day, etc. more often than not, that person is a psycho.
How to discern whether or not someone is a "Psycho"
- Do they run a motel in the middle of nowhere?
- Do they have pictures and ornaments depicting birds of prey adorning the walls of their office?
- Have they developed a split personality whereby they assume the identity of their mother whilst brutally murdering guests?
If you answered in the affirmative to two or more of these then yes, you are probably dealing with a psycho (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psycho_(1960_film)).

Or they've got a bad leg from a fight/war, and they've got porphyria or something that dictates that they stay out of the sun... And maybe they worked at an animal shelter and saw countless pets put down for no reason, so they've got as many pets as they can have, so that they can keep them from dying that way.

So you can't judge on behavior or looks, really. It could be anyone, and that's what makes it so scary.

He had a pricelist...if she wanted a telephonecard she had to spend 30 minutes with him, one time she wanted a little petrat, he asked 1 hour for that etc. etc.. SICKSICKSICK.
