Attention All Members:

Due to recent events on this board that have transpired recentely and over the past year and a half, we here at The Linkin Park Association have been left with no other choice but to drastically overhaul a rule that has been a standard of our forums since day one. Effective immediately, Rule #3 (our Respect Other Users rule) will now be altered to state the following (see Red for changes):

03. Respect other users
You are entitled to your own opinions about matters discussed on these forums, but you must be willing to accept the opinions of other users as well. If you do not agree with the opinion of someone else, discuss it with them in a professional matter and do not flame the user for having different views. If you cannot resolve a disagreement or grudge with a member civilly over PM, then please cease contact with said member immediately. Any types of flaming will get a user issued a warning, and any form of threatening ON THE BOARDS to other users is not acceptable, and may result in a warning or banning depending on the severity of the offense. It is important to note that we will not be responsible for ANY events that happen off site and that any members who encounter a problem with a member of this board off site, are responsible for handling it themselves and not the staff of this site. We will NOT get involved in off site affairs due to liability reasons.

While we are aware that the aforementioned changes may result in some ill-will from some of our longstanding members, it is a necessary step that needs to be done in order to ensure the LPA continues to be a peaceful and respectful community for years to come.

Please do not hesitate to write me, or any of the other members on staff if you have questions about this new policy. Remember, we are not instituting this in a effort to be more controlling or more strict, rather we are doing so to try and uphold the standards in which we modeled this site after so many years ago.

Thank you for your understanding.

Obviously, we want you to report any type of harassment to us, and once we take the necessary actions such as issuing warnings, it's best to cut ties with that person and ignore them. And our forum software makes that super easy. Introducing, The Ignore List. It's real easy to use, and just follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Go to your User CP

Step 2: Click Ignore List in the menu
http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/../ignorelist/2.jpg

Step 3: Enter the user you want to ignore and click Okay
http://www.lpassociation.com/forums/../ignorelist/3.jpg
Look, you can add more than one user!

Step 4: Now, instead of seeing that user's posts, you will see this instead

But wait! There's more! Not only will you not see their posts, people on your ignore list won't be able to PM you. But it gets better, because they won't know that they're unable to PM you. On their end, it will look like their PM addressed to you was sent, but it doesn't go to your inbox, instead, it goes to a big giant intertubes black hole where it will never be read by anyone. And we'll give all of this to you for free! That's right, FREE! We won't even charge for shipping and handling. Vince from ShamWow ain't got shit on us!

NEW UPDATE TO OUR HARASSMENT POLICY:

After much discussion within the staff; and due to constant abuse of this policy, the above harassment policy has been rewritten to reflect some much needed changes. Effective immediately the harassment policy will now be updated to state the following:

If you cannot resolve a disagreement or grudge with a member civilly over PM, then please cease contact with said member immediately. Any types of flaming will get a user issued a warning, and any form of threatening ON THE BOARDS to other users is not acceptable, and may result in a warning or banning depending on the severity of the offense. It is important to note that we will not be responsible for ANY events that happen off site and that any members who encounter a problem with a member of this board off site, are responsible for handling it themselves and not the staff of this site. We will NOT get involved in off site affairs due to liability reasons.

This means that in short, we are not your babysitters and we are not here to hold your hand. Anything that happens off site is not our responsibility, and we cannot play peacemaker for every bad event that happens off the site.

If the offense happens on Myspace/Facebook/Twitter/AIM/MSN or any other popular means of communication, the best course of action is to report the member to the actual site itself (not us) or if it happens through a messenger program simply just block the person from being able to contact you. This is the best way to handle the problem, and we here at the LPA will no longer become involved in any issue, unless the issue is of a negative effect to the LPA and it's interests.

Thank you for your understanding, and have a good day.
