A married man who drove more than 600km to see a woman he met on Facebook has been the victim of a hoax by rival football supporters.
Manchester United fan, Stuart Slann, spent nine hours in his car travelling to meet "Emma", who he had been sharing suggestive emails with.
Believing he was about to enjoy their first night of romance together, Stuart, 39, finally arrived at a remote Scottish farm where he waited for the encounter.
After three hours sitting in his car with "Emma" nowhere in sight, a phone call soon revealed the cruel hoax.
He was surprised to hear the voice of a man with a Liverpool accent.
"Hello Stuart, do you remember us?," they asked.
"It's them Scouse lads who threw you in the pool, you've been framed."
Last year he fell out with the two Liverpool supporters who were staying in the same holiday hotel in Mexico .
They argued about whose football team was better: Manchester United or Liverpool.
To add to the elaborate hoax the men put a recorded phone conversation between them and Stuart on the internet.
It resulted in Stuart's wife Louise finding out about his potential fling on Facebook and she later left him.

Mean, but that's what he gets for cheating on his wife. He deserved it.

That's what I was thinking. Although it sucks those guys pwned him twice, I don't feel sorry when he would try to cheat on his wife.
Chris.

It reminds me of a story the other day that said, "Chris Brown speaks out on Facebook, changes status to single"

i think there might have been some clues there, like remote farm in scotland. Shouldnt have been attempting a fling in the first place to be honest so no sympathy really.

His facebook status should say:
Chris is now in jail. Won't be back for a while.

Poor guy was obviously too thick. Sigh, media covers the weirdest stuff.
He deserved it, he was a cheating Manchester United fan - possibly the worst kind of person in the world.

Idiot,. I don't understand how people can cheat. Especially since it was such a long drive...didn't he realize that he was or just feel like such an ass hole driving there? Anything? Pfft.
Deservedddd it.

Wow that's some elaborate hoax. Serves him right though, cheating on his wife like that.
These must be the perpetrators...

Eh, I'm going to go somewhat against the flow of opinion here. I admit he did deserve it for cheating on his wife, but that's still pretty fucking cruel.

I know this has nothing to do with it but this reminded me of two Le Mans supporters who used Poppers to put flares in their rectums and bring them onto the ground.
Weird football suppoerters

He was wrong to cheat on his wife, they were wrong to do the hoax. I don't really feel sorry for him, as he was being a jerk anyway, but it doesn't absolve the hoax-ers of their crime.
I bet the worst part was the nine hour drive back.

Nah, I've met a few internet friends, and my first gf and a one night stand friend I both initially met online. Just don't drive 9 hours to the middle of nowhere to do it. He is lucky that is all that happened, and that he didn't get mugged or murdered or raped too.

Nah, it works sometimes. That's how I met my current girlfriend.
Ross (esaul) is right though, he's just lucky they were only playing a hoax and not stringing him along for something else. I seem to remember a story along those lines on a current affairs show (ugh) over here a while back, only involving a teenage girl.
