View Full Version : Miley Cyrus being sued for $4 Billion

Miley Cyrus must be cursing the day she pulled a "goofy face" for a photo with her mates. Not only has the picture brought her a whole load of negative press and accusations of racism, now she's been slapped with a law suit to boot.

LA resident Lucie J. Kim has filed a class action against the 16-year-old on behalf of the one million Asian people living in LA county, claiming the image is offensive to Asian people and an invasion of their civil rights.

She says that Miley "knew or should have known that her image would be publicly disseminated via the media, which [she] knew focused on her private life."

The $4 billion price tag was calculated according to the minimum payout for a civil rights violation — $4000 … that's $4000 each for one million plaintiffs — a whopping four billion dollars.

Somehow we don't think Disney pays that well!

This is possibly the most ridiculously over-PC thing I've ever heard of.

This only represents everything that's wrong with America's justice lawsuit system. At least it'll probably be thrown out at first hearing.

...There's an Asian boy right next to her.

It is obvious she was pretending to be Asian, it is silly for her to act innocent on that. But she shouldn't be charged for it. She should be allowed to mock any ethnic group as much as she wants- as long as she doesn't call for action against them. Free speech and freedom of expression.

Where did you read she's acting innocent?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure three of those dudes are the Jonas Brothers, so they should be sued as well.

When it said:

""Goofy faces": Miley claims that she didn't intend to mock any ethnicity" at the bottom, to me it seemed obvious she was mimicking Asians on purpose.

I guarantee she didn't go into that picture with the mindset that she was going to make fun of Asians. Fuck.

"OH MY GOD A PICTURE LET'S MAKE FUN OF ASIANS YOU GUYS"

As Will said, there's an Asian guy sitting right there. Everyone in that damn picture is squinting. She's the only one just pulling her eyes back, besides the guy sitting next to her. I think that they were all goofing around, possibly making silly Asian jokes about their friend sitting on the couch with them. Srsly.

I am not saying she was trying to insult Asians. I am sure she was just fooling around, along with the rest of them. I just meant she was knowingly mimicking Asians. I don't think it should be illegal to do that though, it just seems silly of her to say they were all making squinty-eyed faces without thinking of Asians at all.

I never see Kayce (Minus Xero) get worked up about Asian jokes worth $4 billion.

They're kids, they aren't going to kill Asians when one is sitting next to them and is having fun also.

She's at a fucking party.

 give it a break, it's not like she has a deep-seated hatred for Asians.

Gosh!

And to be honest, this is pretty stupid to be sued for having fun and mimicking AT A PARTY for FUN.

I agree with everyone, this is a bullshit lawsuit, however, just the thought of Miley and the Jonas Brothers being sued into oblivion makes me jump for joy

True. Though it's funny how Miley does things and gets pwned.

I'M OFFENDED!

Just kidding.

Anyways, on a lighter note, I read this on the way to work and laughed. I have a friend named Chyna (Vietnamese) and we were gonna get one of our friends to call and say they're suing because her eyes are naturally really (and I mean REALLY) wide and that is a racial offense to the European race.

Okay, it might not seem funny typing it out (and without seeing her face) but this is kind of ridiculous. So if one of us eats fried chicken is it assumed to be a racial slur against African Americans?

---

I also like how I was chosen to be the asian when we have a poster on the forums named theazninvasion.

I think you look into things way too deeply.

I don't think this is a real deep investigation or anything. I think she was joking around with her friends, and took a picture doing an "Asian pose" for fun. I really don't think they were all doing squinty eyes without the idea of Asians in their head at all. It just seems like a dumb excuse to me, to pretend it was a goofy face that incidentally seemed similar to Asians.

I think it is bullshit to try to sue her for it, and I doubt she intended to be racist, but I do think she was aware of what she as doing.

Someone should tell the NAACP lawyers to sue Seth McFarlane on account of Cleveland from Family Guy. Surely there's potential for a massive pay day right there.

I doubt she's going to claim it's a coincidence. There's an Asian boy in the photo with her, after all. All I'm saying's that it probably wasn't her intent to make fun of them in a negative way. They're just having fun.

Whatever she was doing, even if she intended it in the way she has been accused of, there is no way this is worth a billion dollar lawsuit and it's barely even worth being offended by it. Maybe if the next Hannah Montana film is called "I hate Chinks" or something and there's a picture of her in that pose on the posters. In fact that would be much much worse. But this is either (and I normally hate when people say things along these lines because it's often an excuse to get away with genuine defamation) political correctness gone absolutely batshit or an incredibly audacious bid at getting money for nothing.

It's ridiculous. She's 16, doing what 16 year olds do; pissing around. It does my head in the way that celebrities are treated in such a different way. Touch little kids, get away with it. Pull a face, get sued for $4 billion. Pscht.
