I did so-so in my O Levels, which is basically the main examinations by the Cambridge board. Now I am faced with a decision.

My school, which is one of the best in the world as far as British Studies go (seriously) is letting me stay in school with only this combination in mind:

Sociology, Geography, Urdu and Computer Studies.

I just really hate this combination, because Urdu is one language I CAN NOT stand studying. Plus I have always not liked Computer Studies.
Also I got a 95 in Literature, and I really want to persue it, but the school is not allowing me to.
I choose the subjects offered to me from my school or I don't study in the best school. To put it properly, staying in my school will 'take me places'.

There is another school, which is obviously not as good as my current school but it offers Eng Lit/ Psy/ W. Hist/ Law/ Socio and basically those subject I really want to study.

It's confusing me A LOT.

Study what you want. Who cares if it's the best school in world or not.

Go to the school where you can do what you actually want to.

I'd say you need to do what you want to do. I think you'd be much happier doing something you'd want to do for the rest of your life than doing something you'd be miserable with.

I know. If it was someone else posting this, I would've said what you guys did. But I really have no idea. I hate being so far away.

Plus I told my parents to go talk to the Head regarding Literature, along with my Literature teacher.

I dunno. Lets see?

Just do what makes you happy. It's pointless to take a bunch of courses you don't want to take just because they're at a better school. :)

Take it from a commercial or a wise-guy.

Setting: There in Egypt, and their in a field of archeology. There's two guys. A younger guy, and an older guy.
We'll call them Guy1 and Guy2 respectively.

Guy1: *sweating* I knew i should've been a lawyer like my dad said. In a nice cool room, air-conditioned and a nice chair. I love archeology but not to do for a living.
Guy2: Oh? Well, you know nothing in life is not without struggle. I'm going to go outside to take a look around.
Guy2: *Speaking in his mind, as he stares happily into the valley* I was a lawyer, and my passion is archeology.

Pretty much, who said you'd have to have one job and stick with it? when you retire, you can do whatever you want :) at your leisure.
(Do what you need for the cash and when you want to retire, you can do whatever it is you wanted later. There's a saying that goes: Laugh now, cry later Actually.. it's the other way around. Cry now, laugh later.

I was in a kind of similar position to you at the start of this year. I could have gotten into the best university in my state, but not have done law. Or, I could have done law but at a university that doesn't have as much 'prestige'.

I chose the latter. Aisha-dear, I think you should do what you want. I'd think an employer would value someone with the relevant skills over someone who just went to the 'right' school.

So guess what?

I do make it back into my school in the A list of Students.

And my subjects are:

Literature, Sociology, Urdu and World History.

But you're still taking Urdu? Bummer. I'm really happy you got to have Lit, though!^_^

 Although I don't know a word of Urdu, knowing my own CS teachers, I'd take another language over CS anyday! (Coming from the chick who has 4, three of which are HL studies, in her IB program.)
