I'm surprised no one posted this. Tell me you all have been following this sick, twisted, disgusting story that happened in Canada:

-- A police officer at the scene of a grisly beheading on a Canadian bus reported seeing the attacker hacking off pieces of the victim's body and eating them, according to a police tape leaked on the Internet Saturday.
Passengers said they had just reboarded the bus after a break when the suspect -- for no apparent reason -- stabbed the man sitting next to him dozens of times as passengers fled in horror. He then severed the man's head, displayed it and began hacking at the body.More here (http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/08/02/canada.bus.stabbing.ap/index.html?iref=newssearch).

When I heard about this over the weekend, I felt so sick and disgusted. I just can't even imagine the amount of horror on that bus. Just fucking sick.

I agree with you. I didn't believe it really. And I know it sounds a bit stereotyped but you wouldn't imagine this craziness to take place in a country like Canada.

*sigh* This happened just outside of Winnipeg (where I used to live), which is apparently the crime capital of Canada (or at least up high on the list).

I'm kinda concerned on the effect this will have on bus traveling. Now so many people are going to be scared when they're on a bus just because of this, even though it's an isolated incident. Personally, I take a Greyhound every few weeks to see my girlfriend, but I'm not overly worried about it. I've always wondered about Greyhound's security though. Hypothetically, you could easily buy a ticket for a destination but, you wouldn't necessarily need to get off there and continue on instead. For example, on my last trip, I was waiting for my girlfriend's parents (stupid buses are never properly on time) and the bus driver called out to me if I was getting on the bus, as he was about to leave. I could have easily gotten on the bus (or never gotten off in the first place, he wouldn't have noticed), as I doubt the old driver [they switch at my stop] told the driver the descriptions of people who weren't continuing, and I doubt the old driver even knew himself.

Also, you could easily get on board with a loaded weapon, as absolutely no checks are done. The driver just looks at the ticket, smiles and welcomes you aboard (from my experience, anyway). Hopefully this finally lit the light bulb and they step up security a bit, but not to the point where it's overkill we need to take off our shoes. *cough* I'm sure there's a shitload of terrorist scenarios one could think up involving a large bus filled with 50 people.

Just my $0.02.

=========== edit:
Apparently (http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/story.html?id=c6346a6e-151b-49f6-be98-8a04b47c588c), the attacker talked with the victim's co-worker for a portion of the trip and smoked [possibly E] on the smoke break with her prior to the attack. And to top it off, according to a family who knew the attacker, he was suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, but refused to get treated.

Go figure.

I think it's metal. /sarcasm. It's not that surprising. Only the " hacking off peices and eatting them" is..well, surprisingly scary. imo.

It's distrubing what people do, and Imma go with Harlz.

Then again, Paranoid Shizophrenia, =\.

Well, it is kind of different but, overall, not surprising.

Well it's kind of unusual for something like that to happen on public transport.

The media has a story that's so crazy it's going to scare the living shit out of people, of course they're going to run it across the world like it's a free hooker. The amount of attention this story is getting is cynical, and I bet so many people are scared/worried of riding a bus now. just because of this. Figures they uncover that he's mentally unstable and potentially was on drugs AFTER everyone shits themselves.

I don't know what's worse - a man beheading another man by stabbing him in the throat 50-60 times, or church (hate) group protesting (http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/story/4209152p-4801884c.html) at the victim's funeral saying that the murder was God's response to Canadian policies they disagree with.

Allan Mailloux, youth pastor for the Bethel Baptist Church in Winnipeg, said he was appalled that the Westboro church would consider appearing at McLean's funeral.

"That is so dishonouring to Tim McLean's family. It's a slap in the face," he said "The main purpose in life is to love God and to love one another. I don't know how this falls into that definition."
