http://www.politicalcompass.org/test (http://www.politicalcompass.org/test)
Somebody told me about this a few months ago, and I recently rediscovered it and thought it would be fun to see where myself (and fellow posters) fell on the political scale. You answer a few pages worth of questions, and then you are shown a graph of where your general political ideology falls.
This is what I ended up with:
http://www.politicalcompass.org/facebook/pcgraphpng.php?ec=-2.50&soc=-5.08
Pretty much where I expected.
PS: I wasn't exactly sure whether I should post this in serious discussion or random chat, so the mods can feel free to move it if deemed necessary. =)

Sounds about right.
Economic Left/Right: -2.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.33

Looks almost exactly the same as Tim's, only slightly less left wing and slightly more libertarian haha.

Let see what I have.

I've done this a million times, so I'm not going to bother again, but my compass thingy is very close to Will's. Perhaps just a little bit more to the left.

You're all a bunch of pot-smoking, birkenstock-wearing, leftist, god damn hippies!
Obviously, I kid.

I was sure there were at least one or two conservatives here... :P
I don't even consider myself left or right wing really, I'm just about personal freedom and whatnot.

I'm a Volkswagen-driving, birkenstock-wearing, leftist god damn hippie. Close enough?

I'm sure there are, they just haven't found this thread yet. Personally, even though I'm pretty liberal, I vote for the best man in the race, no matter what it's for.

No conservatives? Well I didn't even take the test. I might.. But can I really trust it?

Most people who've taken it so far seem to think that it represents them well.

I thought I'd be more right to be honest. Not so much more right, but still.

Honestly, there were a few questions I didn't really have strong feelings for
or against, and I was kind of "in the middle" on. With that said, I think it's generally on point and I don't think it's supposed to be an exact representation of ones political ideals.
I do think there probably should have been a neutral option.

I started taking the test then I saw it had 6 pages. And I'm like .. yeah.. This will have to wait. I guess I'm lazy but I'll do the survery a little later.. It might teach me some things about myself.
I figured, I was just teasing.
Oh, I know. Yet with the atmosphere around here (which is certainly more liberal than I thought it was) they might not even want to take the test.
I do think there probably should have been a neutral option.
I agree. There were a lot of things I didn't care either way on, so I just went ahead and chose disagree, so my test isn't very spot on.

This is so confusing, in Australia Liberal is the right wing, and Labor is the left wing.

Mine is the same as Jesse
Sorry about the double post.

Yeah. The United States is quite confusing when it comes to politics. That's why I try to stay out of it as much as I can, because I don't understand a lot of it.
But yes, liberals in the United States are often the leftists. I think it comes from the saying "out in left field," as in people with radical ideas, which is often what liberals in the United States are.

Yeah I get the whole left wing/right wing idea, but I just don't see how a word such a liberal can change it's meaning over different (english speaking) countries.
Ah politics makes so little sense.

A bit left, but that's basically from my religious and sexual views and stuff. But I generally consider myself a conservative.

I'd say this is about right for me.

Pretty accurate I'd say.
EDIT: I'd have thought I'd be more left but it's my opinion that both sides have pros and cons so I think it's a decent balance I've got. I'm certainly a libertarian though.

You can fuck off with your holier than thou know it all attitude. You've already pissed off enough people here so why don't you quit wasting everyone's time including your own and make amends by actually contributing something positive to the forum.

I'm glad most everyone on here knows how to flame well. Nothing ever changes it seems.
And instead of trying to be Capt Save-A-Hoe why dont you ask what my post meant instead of acting like a 12 year old who has never been on the Internet before. You may find the post was mean to be lighthearted.

That's exactly the attitude I'm on about. I saw nothing lighthearted in your post. It seems to me that the majority of posts you've made so far have been recieved negatively so maybe your idea of lightheartedness needs revising. ;)

Thank you thank you thank you...a sensible reply!
According to that site, I am very much Libertarian skewed and to the left of center. So no, Libertarians arent bad. In fact, no parties are bad, it's just the people who ruin them. I'm a huge Dennis Miller fan so I should have known I was a Lib baby! :D

The people who aren't in for the money, but for the power is how they ruin them. If you think about it, Once your past the money, whats left to go? Power The more, the better, the more awesome you feel when you wave with your prick, the more corrupt you unknowingly become.
Libertarian eh? I posted my compass earlier, and even retook my test. the old one and the one i took recently was pretty much the same. I'm not very caught up in entertainment, Who's Dennis Miller?
You say I replied Sensibly, Yet, I digress with ease, and even added Roflcopter.

I'll take a Roflcopter or even a RoLoLLerskates over needless flaming anytime. :whistling

Eh, personally, I think people need to relax. Everyone is getting tense and jumping on other people.
For example, what lpboarder said, the joke about stereotyping, that was actually pretty funny. And it WAS lighthearted, everyone is just taking it as a personal stab because that's how they want to take it.
Lighten up. :)
well, just to clarify i didn't take it personally. with my last post i was just wondering what he was getting at. i don't really care if people are going to criticise my beliefs. i can justify them.

I wasn't referring to you, hun. :)
I just feel like everyone is jumping down everyone else's throats. Gets kinda old.
I really don't care if it seems like I'm being grouchy or something...this guy has come to this forum and done nothing but preach, stereotype and argue and he's done it with a holier than thou attitude. I'm the last person to jump the gun with this kind of thing but I'm already fed up with this guys constant lack of respect.

Ah I see, maybe I should have just opened up with a bunch of "fuck off" or "fuck you" salvos? Is that how it works in your world? Please, get over yourself.

If anyone needs to get over themselves it's you, bud.
Anyway I'm done with this now. Have fun making more friends around here chief.
