View Full Version : "Meteora" #1 For A Second Week
"Meteora" has held on to the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100 Album Charts for a second straight week. According to Nielsen Soundscan, the new album sold 264,000 copies in the week of April 2nd - 8th, bringing the grand total to 1,094,000 copies sold since March 25th in the US. The second week totals are a 65% decrease since 830,000 copies were sold in "Meteora"'s first week of release.
This earns Linkin Park their 10th platinum certification, 8 for "Hybrid Theory", 1 for "Reanimation" and 1 for "Meteora". "Meteora" is by far the quickest LP album to acheive platinum status too, it took Reanimation 9 weeks and Hybrid Theory 4 months to hit the one million mark.

why did the sells go down so much?

because all the hardcore lp fans bought it the first day basically
so the only people who bought it the week after were either fans who couldn't afford it or people who just bought it cause they needed a new cd or like some of linkin parks songs.
no offense to LP, the album is great, and they will make a huge profit from it, but i dont think it will sell as much as hybrid theory did......

Singles will push it along. Somewhere I Belong most likely attracted only the hardcore LP fans and the teenie boppers. Faint will get alot to buy it, most of my friends only like that song off the new album, and it is very catchy. Besides, two weeks in a row at #1 is good, I thought The White Stripes would take it. At least this album is doing better then other flops by Papa Roach and Korn.

the white stripes did horrible I thought..........Not even 200,000 copies in the first week....... That's just sad for a band that has as much publicity as they do(not that they have that much...)
