View Full Version : How To Tell If You're Depressed

Derek The Infamous

Feeling down lately? Feel as if you are medically and scientifically depressed? Well then take this test...it will tell you just how messed up you really are!

In this thread there will be 25 questions, asking you about symptoms you may or may not have felt within the past week. On a piece of paper please put either 0-4 next to each question as to how often you have experienced the said symptom.

0=Not At All
1=Somewhat
2=Moderately
3=A Lot
4=Extremely

After the quiz is completed. Add the numbers you put down together, and view it against the depression chart to see how depressed you really are.

Don't post your score here unless you completely want to. It is for your own usage, and knowledge. Those with suicidal urges should always seek help from a mental health professional or therapist.

0-5 No depression

This is out of a book by Dr. David D. Burns M.D. Called "Feeling Good" which is intended to help you diagnose your depression and thus seek help if you find yourself severely depressed, or suicidal in nature.

I thought I'd post it here as it may help to be an eye opener to some people if they aren't aware they are truly suffering from depression.

I scored 1 and that was only because I was yawning while reading that so I figured I might as well give myself something for "feeling tired" :lol:

Really interesting but I've got one question?

What do the results stand for? You don't really get an answer and you can't really compare yourself to an average (the average would probably be bad too anyway).

The book itself is kinda just intended to help you admit you're depressed, and then offer advice on how to overcome those feelings.

I got a score of 90. That's only because I am going through hell right now. The way I got treated at my job and I ended up quitting this past Friday. I have no job now and my health issues aren't too well. So I have every right to feel the way that I feel right now. Quick! Somebody commit me! :bookread:

Dammit! xD I'm not surprised. I'm a loner. But last December I had unexplainable acheyness, strep throat, almost got bronchitis, and I have a sinus in fection as well (which was on my birthday as well T-T), so.. yeah.. On the other hand, the best I felt that month was when I heard Chester singing My December.

Ha ha, my number's 17, the same day date of my birthday! *noodle'd*

Got 17, but I do think the test is quite stupid in my places. Many of the questions could be attributed to other things. Example, loss of motivation. I'm not motivated atm because I know I don't want to do the course i'm doing at University. I'm changing next year but I know what i'm doing now isn't for me. Doesn't mean i'm depressed at all, just means I made the wrong choice.

0=Not At All
1=Somewhat
2=Moderately
3=A Lot
4=Extremely

After the quiz is completed. Add the numbers you put down together, and view it against the depression chart to see how depressed you really are.

Don't post your score here unless you completely want to. It is for your own usage, and knowledge. Those with suicidal urges should always seek help from a mental health professional or therapist.
